i call myself an ayu fan.. but i do not like all her songs (covers, etc.)... i'm really into ayu's music... but you dont have to like EVERYTHING of what ayu does to be a fan.. i think when you like every single thing (XP) about ayu you have become into an obsessive fan( or just a freaky fan)...

Ayu= human

Ayu= idol

idol= temporary

so there is no such thing as a "true fan", and it is impossible for anyone to like every song of hers, unless the person "blindly" loves Ayu. So to answer your question, being a true fan doesn't mean that you have to like every song. And that's a good thing--it shows that you're not blindly idolizing Ayu.

And Ayu as a human herself can not make every one happy with everything she does...because we're all so different, aren't we?

A true fan is someone who isn't afraid to criticize what they love.

Im my point of view, you are a true fan since you think you are..enjoying her musics [or others artist's work] is enough..knowing about life, like and dislike, and this kinda things is just curiousity because you like her/him..not knowing this doesn`t mean that you arent a true fan.

Being a true fan means supporting Ayu no matter what. Like you would support your best friend. Even if you did not like what she did, just like a friend, you can "forgive" her, in a sense. You don't have to buy everything, or like everything, just give your support, and everyone shows support in different ways. Some show it by buying all her things, or liking all her songs, or giving her publicity. but everyone shows it differently. Just stay positive and always hope for the best for her.

She is trying to please us. The least we can do is give her our support.

A true fan sticks with the artist through the good and bad times....just like how a true friend would act.

I am not here to criticize everything about Ayu, don't get me wrong!
I love her music, but I also represent kind of critical attitude - I mean, I like her songs not because they are her, but because they are good ones. And following this path, not all of them I like, i.e. I just don't listen all the time Ayumi's new album. That's all.

I would say that I have the same critical attitude as you, only that I really do love every single song she has released up to and including now. There are those I listen to a bit less than other but I like them all.

That I love the songs does not mean I can't see various flaws in them, and I can understand why other people would not like them.

Music is special, some people have reasons to why they dislike certain music/songs while other simply dislike it, their ears does not like what they hear and that's enough. Music can grow on you, music can stay bad on you, you can instantly like music and you can force yourself to like music.

Force yourself to like a music? My, never heard of that before... There is no way anyone will like all the song someone sings... Everyone has their own flaws... (a.k.a bad points) OR no one is perfect... Simple... Those who merely likes everything about ayu is probably crazy or obsessed with her... Stuff like that usually happens though...

One of my friends, who was very much into JPop, started thinking that his music taste was "bad". He "forced" himself to stop listening to JPop and started listening to a lot of other artists (Pendulum/Prodigy/The Knife) and that made him change his music preferences entirely.

The way I put it, it might not seem like he forced himself all too much, but he really did, haha.
