Those "covered up" versions from Saudi arabia a friend of mine brought home looked horrible. The one I remember better was Vengaboys' album The Party album where the girls had crudely drawn full suits that diden't look like they belonged at all.. So if the "bushed up " shakira is officially released there it woulden't surprise me. It might be a bootleg though.

Yes, I am well aware of what it means. But the point is, is that is not the meaning that most people today associate with it and it is with that in mind that this album was titled that way - I highly doubt Shakira is referring to sucking on her thumb as a child. However, even the Feudian definition itself is sexual - it's not the "stages of life", it is the "psycho-sexual" stages of life.

She did state that the reason she named it Oral Fixation was because she was "fixated to the spoken word" or fascinated with what people can achieve with words, I think. It's in her site, www.shakira.com or her Wiki site.

Yes, they are both wrapped in leaves. Yes, they are both mostly naked.

I don't look at Shakira's CD and think "omgz, I Am...!!!" They are both two very different artistic statements. Shakira is playing off the Eve thing with the apple and is obviously trying to demonstrate temptation. [if you don't think "oral fixation" is supposed to have an overtly sexual meaning, then you're crazy] Ayu is playing off nature giving off a more serene feeling.

So yes, they are both wearing similar things. Do I think Shakira has copied Ayu? No.

Shakira's 2 volumes of Oral Fixation were meant to represent a Madonna in one, and Eve in the other. There was a definite intention from her title to refer to the Freudian term, but I can see how it would be misinterpreted unfortunately. Yes, everything concerning Freud is generally sexual, but Shakira meant it in a much different way from what people generally first think of when reading the title Oh well. Lots of covers and titles get misinterpreted... but the similarity to those paintings is pretty neat, huh?
