I don't think Ayu can fill up a stadium of 80,000 (not to mention the fact that she's never done it in Japan) but Rain had the Korean Wave + an insanely popular Korean soap opera to boost his popularity to make fangirls go wild.

The problem is that there isn't even any stadium that can take that many people in Japan, the biggest one can take 55,000 people, at least she managed to fill it, back in 2001.

Well, i think she may choose the one which has about more than 30k seats...since few artists ever went to the 80k one.

mariah carey has ever went to that 30k one holding her concert.

no, rain only filled the 50000 one.
-------------------------------------------------------------
i have to say that, if ayu holds concert in china, not only will her fans go there, but also some people who are interested about her(just spending their weekend maybe), besides there are a large amount of japanese living in those 2 cities, and there actually are some really loyal ayu fans who will follow her to every concert she holds...so i think ayu can do it!

BUT, avex is the most conservative company i've ever known, but of course, ayu's tour will have a lot of sponsors(panasonic is greatly possible) which decreases the risksssssssssss.

and you may not know, there are so many overseas ayufans, members in this forum are just few of them

i think japan does have some huge stadiums, but you see they seperate the audience really well, when you watch ayu's stadium tour, you may find the stadium floor had been seperated into small areas, but the chinese organizers never do that, the whole audience are only in a big area, only some narrow paths beside each other. so if that japanese stadium also fill it like we do, it might also reach that figure

i really hopes she'll come, but first she needs to boost up her popularity in China, or else there won't be such a big audience.

Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about, I've been to Ayumi performances. This "waste of space" is due to safety measures because they aren't allowed to put more people inside, their biggest stadium is TOKYO DOME for 55,000, but I don't think they'd be allowed to put 55,000 people in there for a concert, because the stage take up so much space, so there was probably somewhere around 50,000 people for her DOME TOUR 2001 performance there.

There's also 2 or 3 other stadiums in Japan for the same number of people, 55,000, in other towns than Tokyo.

Tokyo Dome is the largest indoor stadium (aka Dome) in Japan. But I think walt1112 might also be talking about the larger outdoor ones like Saitama 2002; Yokohama Stadium; Tokyo Olympic Stadium. (I think those are the top 3 in Japan)

Yokohama Stadium: 30,000 people
Saitama 2002: 63,700 people
Tokyo Olympic Stadium: 57,363 people

The largest one with seats is the football stadium
Yokohoma Marinos: 72 370 people

Tokyo Dome lands at shared 5th place counting indoors & outdoors.

edit~
according to wikipedia the capacity of Tokyo Olympic Stadium is currently 60,057, it's possible that the information there is more up to date.

^Oh yeah, I'm talking about the Yokohama Int'l Stadium/Nissin Stadium (as it's called now) which is the 72k one, not the 30k one.

From news reports, I read that SMAP had a concert at Olympic Stadium with 80,000 people, so I'm guessing the 80k includes standing room.

The lists on those pages include standing places aswell, it seems, and Tokyo Olympic Stadium is listed as not having any.

Though I heard that X-Japan had their farewell concert in front of 80k people, like SMAP, I belive the only place to possibly hold that many would be the Olympic Stadium.

I don't really get this part. How can the stadium not have standing room? If the stage is on the field, then there must be people standing on the field? (Unless they're talking about standing room not on the field).

Yeah, that's true. The stage won't be in the centre of the stadium. Do you know if it was seating or standing places for the mentioned concerts? Seatings is all too common in Japan, and a complete waste of space... everyone stand up anyway.

^I'm not really sure. It was probably seating for both X-Japan and SMAP although I have seen some news clips of Johnny concerts where the people stand...

^People always stand up at their seating locations so sometimes it can be hard to see if there's seats behind them or not, it's so rare with standing positions in Japan :/.

it will be great if she goes there, she will be tempted to come to singapore too. i will do anything to go!!!

but, ayu's lives normally spends a lot of money, so the tickets are gonna be very expensive, i wonder is there enough hardcore fans who will pay that much to go? i'm worried that it might backfire...
