mm... I think that Ayu is the first person that saws and approve covers. So I think, if she hadn't approve it for the first time, so it woldn't have been released.

And, we know that Ayu tries to put her records (lyrics, composings) along her clothes and concepts, so I think that she's directly behind those covers, so they represents her in the best way they can.

For example, you may get the MU cover is ugly, because we see an Ayu smiling like it is a joke.
But mybe behind that, Ayu wants to represent that era of her life. Maybe she had a really good time, in a way she never EVER have done before. Maybe she laughs a lot, and forget about her past that, if you remember, was a paintful one.

People will buy what they want to buy. Good cover or bad cover, good music or bad music, people buy whatever they feel like. Companies can advertise and promote all they want, but it's the people who decide.

Besides, there is nothing wrong with the current state of sales. They are not mind blowingly high, but they don't stink.

I think what people need to know about the covers is that Ayu designed and made them

I have a feeling that Ayu doesn't get to choose the overall feel / position in the photo..

But she does get to choose the shots. I guess she settled on smiling / covering her face. However, even though she chose them.. I do wonder if they were chosen as a big joke.. :|

Yep. She probably picked them as a joke, and then avex missunderstood her sarcasm and it ended up as the cover.

The cover for CD-only was funky, but honestly, I don't think it
s horrid. She looks happy. i love that. It's the very first album cover of ehrs where she looks like she's really having fun and goofing around. I... also don't get the big deal about the booklet. I liked the pictures inside. They gave me a more just doing my business" feel - less posed and planned.

I think if they hadn't released the last single - which I loved - it would've helped. The songs were both very good to me, but very polarizing to others, so I can understand how that would've imapcted album sales.

Had they kept the releases at 6 or 5 a-sides, it would've been better. Had they also cut down on the Sweetbox... that would've worked. Maybe cut In The Corner (my preference only, I'll say) for a new track. I dunno.

I think that if the release of B&D had not happened, the sales might be slightly higher by about 80k or so, since people might like, have been turned off by B&D.

But overall, it probably wouldn't have helped too much.

Hahahaha... That's why the missunderstood thing... just immel said.

And with that "Hernandez" director, wheathever... ooh goshhh, that guy has the worst sense of humor off all Ayu staff. If you don't believe me, just see the B&D video (the second one).

Immel, where did you read that on wikipedia? Is it online yet?

Actually the Duty cover started off fashion trends with the leopard spots.

Actually, the Duty cover made it so that people paid attention to Ayu.
A giant billboard of a woman in a catsuit.. that's attention getting.

Unlike the (m)u covers, where it was sort of just normal / scary, the Duty cover was meant to allure buyers to become 'curious' about the cover and possibly even buy it to see how the material inside might sound.

At least, that's what I think. :p

I wonder when Ayu will break the 30 million singles mark <333

~20,200,517
(Single grand total)
Non-Regular are excluded

I imagine it'll take 35-40 more singles :< Depending on if she has a hit or a 3/4/5/6/7 a-side coming up..

That's more Ayu-related than avex related imo. It was Ayu that wanted to change the songs last minute. So song wise, I don't think avex could really do anything, except maybe say 'No' to Ayu when she wanted to use the GEO songs...

Bold & Delicious/Pride = single that tied Seiko Matsuda's record of having 25 #1 singles

Startin'/Born To Be... = single that beat Seiko Matsuda's record

BLUE BIRD = passed the 20 million mark for single sales.
