I... don't think she's trying to be aaliyah. All the "so and so is trying to be Aaliyah" talk is obnoxious - Aaliyah had only one great album (great songs, sure, but her last album was her only truly great one). It's sad that she died, but now whenever you get ANY pretty young black female doing R&B/hip-hop, people are gonna be like "OMG SHE'S TRYING TO BE AALIYAH." People got like that with Ashanti too and I sure as hell doubt she was trying to take Aaliyah's place. You may as well say Rihanna's trying to be Aaliyah.
