yeah..i know that koda really famous right now...
but ayu is a legend you know...maybe everyone in japan know her...and she has so many foreign fans...and she has a really strong fan base... so the important thing to me is the status of her in our heart...is she still the queen in your heart or no?

I don't know who invented the title Queen, but it means that you are of royal blood.
Neither Ayu nor Koda was born into a royal family. They are both famous and make music, it's not a competition for who is the better and it's definitely not a question for who is the "queen" of whatever. They're both under the same label, avex. They are money machines, nothing bad with that. All of you will be when you grown up, earning money to support yourselves and, possibly, your family. It's not a competition between artists, and neither of them is better than the other. If you really need to think that one of them is the better one, that is up to you, yourself. Neither is it a competition about sales. Releasing CDs is all about earning money, the higher sales you have, the better. Avex earns more on having two huge artists than having one, doesn't matter if they reduce each others sales. A full album will probably sell better than a mini album, but if you don't have enough material it's quite hard to release one. The only official news we've had is that Ayu didn't have enough material from the start, but in the end she decided to work hard and get the missing material ready for a full album. I still don't see any sense in the first post, what does it matter, what is the point? |

That doesn't mean anything. Do you think Ayu or Avex is going to really come out and say that their reason for changing it to a full album was because of competition from Koda Kumi or other people? Competition being the reason is just as possible as Ayu "finding" some extra songs.

^There's no reason at all why avex would want a "competition". Avex owns both Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi, they're not trying to set those two artists up against each other, they'd loose money on that.
The article is nonsense. I could have written it. Why is the article nonsense, and why could I have written it? The writer of this article does not have any more sources than we, he knows as much as us and he has drawn those conclusions. His/hers conclusions isn't worth being considered more than if you or I posted them. No one of us came up with this, why does it suddenly seem sensible because someone in an Asian country wrote it down? |

yea i totally agree with you immel...they're both from the same label! Changing the mini album to a full length will satisfy the fans more, give her more songs for her concerts, and also make more money...

Whoa, whoa whoa, OK, as much as I support ayu and all, and how much I hate avex, this is stupid in my opinion. Cos let's face it, in Japan at least, ayu isn't as popular as she used to be, and as far as I'm aware, Miss (Understood) didn't get number one selling album last year did it? Did MY STORY even make it that well? So unless i hear that those two albums did infact get the best selling albums of their release year, I have absoloutely no idea what drove avex to do this.
And that aside, how is it a better idea to compete with such big names in the first place? I don't like you, Matsuura

(miss)understood is this year....and I think its currently the 3rd best studio album? (correct me if im wrong) and overall in the top 10 of best selling album?...7th or 8th place? I have to check Last edited by Ayumiko; 14th November 2006 at 06:56 PM. |

Sometimes it's a secret how to understand why certain people (in general, or in these particular case) make certain things.
note: no "s" are missing in the post

Does every god damn thread have to turn into a "omg kuu is sooooo not the queen" thread?!?! Get over it! She didn't release it into a full album just because Kuu's releasing an album >_>

The album became a full album because Ayu decided to release it as one.
Why over-analyze these things? Just enjoy the fact that we're getting a full-length album, ten (or nine) new tracks to gnaw on, and can the Ku-bashing. This topic's not about Ku, it's about Ayu (ooh, I rhymed. Titter~!), and really, the freaking rivalry crap needs to be flushed.

ayuflareup!: Were you the one that translated the article? If so, if you're going to do translating, please translate it properly. If not, then this is a heads up to the members here.
1) There was no mention of "Koda Kumi" (or "EXILE") in the Chinese original article 2) There was no mention of "Queen of the best selling album of the year" and all that crap. The article wrote that 80% of the reason for the change from mini to full album was because avex wanted to keep the #1 weekly album streak. They noted that there was a lot of competition on the 29th with releases such as Hitoto Yo's BEST etc. The main point of the article isn't talking about whether Ayu will be Queen or not. It's about the big year-end releases (and tied in with that the possible high sales.) Quote:

Immel, infinite WORD to to you.
Ayumi or Avex can make it into a full-length album because they can. Whether it's because of sudden inspiration or competition is not their secret to tell, and I believe, non of our problem. I believe Ayumi never had an album that was the best selling one, as Ayu_fan929 said. And what he said makes sense. Just sit back, and enjoy the music. Over-thinking will get you gray hairs at a young age.

There's also the fact that if avex makes it all seem (don't forget that the key word here is seem) like a competition between the artists, they are creating all this drama (there is actually no drama, other than what we create in our own minds), for example the kind of drama that we can see daily on AHS, some of it in this thread. This drama draws attention, unlimited attention to those two artists, the best free promotion there could ever be.
Do you hate avex? No reason to, they're no worse than anyone else, and they're definitely not worse than what You would do if you controlled a huge recording label, and if you don't do everything to stay on top, you'd loose it all. I don't like avex, basically I don't care about them. Ayumi makes music that I listen to, appearances that I watch, and so on. Time to stop myself. |
