Oh, and there's actually a news story posted on Japan Today, about the collaboration item (although saying that hello kitty and ayu created a new character is inacurate)

"I'm so happy that I could collaborate with Kitty, which I have loved since I was little," the singer said in a statement, describing the feline character as "a fabulous being that is loved by many women regardless their age and nationality."

The overalls look so cute! A nice change from the way-too-glamorous-for-words limited CDL 2006-2007 Ayupan.

By the way, is Hello Kitty big in Japan? This tie-in is so reminiscent of "Dearest" being the ending theme of Inuyasha. Both of them are quite known figures of Japanese pop culture in the west. Uncanny, I say.
