[2007] The Atlantic lays the smack-down on Ayu

I was reading this month's issue of The Atlantic and came across an article on anonymous suicide groups in Japan. Towards the end of the article, they bewilderingly throw in this jibe at Ayu:

"I would look at sites like Yahoo Japan, the news on it and stuff," he explained. He was also a fan of Ayumi Hamasaki, a B-movie actress turned pop star known for her elaborately costumed sexuality and the banal lyrics she composes under a bewildering number of pseudonyms.
This just seems very bizarre to me. Why would they start attacking her for no reason? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the article and while "banal lyrics" are debatable, it is just simply untrue that she has "a bewildering number of pseudonyms". She has one :colbert:
