most of the people her at AHS like her new (old) hairstyle and the style that comes with that so I think most of her japanese fans are feeling the same way ... sure there has been a lot of akward things going on this year for AYU but I think that the cheese glitter/fated single and PV is really the end and start of a new era ... or why would the call it the third ayu era?? hmm think about that

That's kind of my point. Performances and interviews aren't enough. It's the super-drama/super-CM tie-in that makes the single these days. I mean, look at Mr. Children's shirushi and Utada Hikaru's Flavor Of Life. 14-sai no haha was the shirushi tie-in, and it was semi-popular as a drama, but it did WONDERS for the single, because the song was different than their previous couple singles. Flavor Of Life was VERY different from Hikaru's last entire album, and her new single, and it had the super-tie-in of Hana Yori Dango 2. Ayu's new single is VERY different than BLUE BIRD, Startin'/Born To Be..., and glitter/fated. But...it doesn't have the strong drama/movie tie-in like the other hits. I am relatively confident that her single should do well on the chart, given that she has no tremendous competition up against her this coming week, and as you said, there has been a lot of TV promotion in terms of performances and interviews to boost sales. But she's been lacking the major endorsements for a while now. There's no variety in her endorsements. She's always doing Panasonic or mumo CMs to back her singles...and those just aren't enough anymore. I'm just not sure if talkin' 2 myself is going to be a SMASH. Even in the sense of 300k copies kind of smash.
