Hm. The point is not paying $20 for 2 good tracks, it's paying $20 for 15 bad tracks. That's the worst thing of all.

What you end up getting though is maybe one good song and a bunch of crap.
I got her point, but as I said in my previous post, showing such lack of knowledge undermines said point.

The concept of wannabe artists is nothing new though. As long as there is a hit artist/concept, there will always be someone else trying to get a piece of the action.

Well she might not know some things and might have given poor examples for some but the main point of her discussion is valid. Peruvian you blame eMpTyV but the record companies are to blame the most. MTV shows what the main record companies want to sell. If there are too many great but unknown bands it's all thanks to their dumb mistakes. They should invest into publicity for those "unknown" artists but they seem to only make publicity for those crap artists. And she mentioned something really important: My mother was a great consumer of Vynils. She had the whole Beatles collection and even though they were quite expensive she didn't mind buying them. I don't see her listening to any of these newest stuff anymore, she slowly lost all her interest. And it's not that she doesn't like music anymore it's just that most things are unnactrative. The only thing I see adults buying the most are old artists "Greatest hits" and such.
Another thing: music is something universal. You shouldn't have to be an expert or go searching like crazy to find something that is worth your money. Not everyone has enough time or money available to go listening to one hundred bands only to find one thing worth. If record companies don't think about that, if they only offer the crap and expect people to listen to their crap then the problem is not with the consumers but with them. If the crap were at least at a reasonable price but they're way too expensive.

I dunno. In general, Avril and Michelle and Vanessa aren't at all a litke. Vanesse and Michelle maybe, but not Avril. There is this one song by Avril though, that I always thought was Michelle Branch. I don't know the name of it, since I don't really listen to American music for most of the reasons listed in this article.
