Random J "FEEL" Album Review

I love that he touched on Namie's Evolving/Maturing music and Kumi's and ayumi's stagnation as previously did I.

I agree with most of his review. Personally, I find it weird how Ayu's sound is constantly changing (debatable, I know) but somehow she's not really evolving/maturing as an artist. How can she take so much chances and yet be so safe at the same time?

And I really haven't listened to a lot of J-Pop this year but I agree FEEL's production is on point.

Personally, I think that's exactly why I love Ayu so much: she keeps changing but still sounds like herself. She makes every style she tries her own, her soul is in every song. It may be rock, it may be pop, it may be "dance", but eventually it'll make you say "that's an Ayu song!"
That's what I search for in an artist who is experimenting.

good point. I was trying to say something similar but couldn't find the words. Personally, I think that out of the 4, Ayu has experimented the most, with so many musical genres and styles but she may take us by surprise again with a more "mature" and "changed" sound.

Back on topic,I FEEL that Namie's FEEL has started to grow on me somehow.I love RJP's reviews!

RJ's review was definitely my favourite of all I've read so far. Very fair and well-structured. Really, the only thing I disagree with was the disapproval of "Big Boys Cry." It's no masterpiece, and it certainly sounds out-of-place with FEEL as a whole, but it's a very unique and enjoyable song as it is. The negative feedback from many is definitely understandable, though; it's really hit-or-miss.

It bothers me that people always compare Ayumi with Kumi and Namie ... she has nothing in common with them in term of musical style ... How compare a singer who does "almost only" pop/rock/experimental (at least since several years) things and another who does "almost only" electro/dance/r&b

Btw this review is good but bring others singers to make your singer better is not a good thing IMO !

The problem is that she always works with the same people since 2007 so the sound can't very much evolving...

That IS a good review.

Ah. I love La La La. I can't shut up about it. I wonder if this'll end up being the album of the year.

The only thing in "Let Me Let You Go" that bothers me more than her pronunciation is the "do not disturb" part. I don't think I've ever seen a house that had a "Do not disturb sign." This person she's singing about sounds so shady.

I agree with his review and even the album highlights.
All 8 of those songs carry the album. I've noticed that I like those 8 only.

And as for the ayu and kumi stagnation, I agree.

TBH, I've been disappointed with a lot lately. Only tracks on Feel I can totally get into are Hands On Me, Heaven, LMLYG, Contrail & Stardust In My Eyes. Then 2NE1's new single seemed catchy at first, but I got bored with it pretty fast... Then Kumi's single, I really like La(x5), but I cant get into TD. ITT I still haven't heard though.... All in All it's been a disappointing summer music wise for me.

Oh, and I'm honestly already considering on selling my copy of Feel....

Anyone else thinks Namie sounds like a South Park Character in "Let Me Let You Go" when she says, "Rearry!".

I die. She is so serious like she is really in her FEELS giving sustenance, nutrition and life to that word when really she just performed an abortion like a pediatric boss.

One thing that bothers me about Namie's music is that in virtually 99.9% of her music they alter the pitch of her voice to be higher and more feminine than it ever actually is going by her lives. She is always an Octave lower live and it's not by choice.

Namie has done Pop better than Britney did on Circus and Femme fatale. Has done electro and house better than Madonna has done on every album since Ray of light.
Is this guy serious? even though I didn't reary enjoy the album, and think that songs like can you feel this love and BBC don't help anyone's argument of a maturing sound. But still, I think FEEL as an album can stand on it's own without the need for bashing and petty comparisons, but you'd have to be really delusional to brush aside Madonna's confessions on a dance floor.

Ahhh~ it's been such a long time since I've listened to an album and enjoyed nearly all the tracks. FEEL is awesomeee. With BENI and f(x)'s new albums later this month, July may be the best month of music in 2013 for me.
