I'm already over AS3 after last night's episode, so I feel. Shangie def deserves that crown.

Characters like Mae West, Little Richie, Little Edie, Suze Orman and Paul Lynde also scored high at snatch game and there are not many who know these celebrities and their gimmicks. Sure, doing Ayu at snatch game won't happen but it is not impossible.

The judges know who they are though. I highly doubt RuPaul’s crew is familiar with nuances in Ayu’s persona enough, if at all, to find any imitations or jokes she might try to land funny or entertaining.

They are all either part of the history of american lgbt pop culture or of the current american pop culture. Ayumi is not a part of their culture at all.

As long as you make them funny, you'll be fine. Ayu's kind of easy to make funny in some ways but comebacks/jokes will be hard to land unless you wanna be safe and end up with a Kimmy Jong Illuh or whatever.

Snatch Game runs by rule of being funny, so as long as she can be funny she should be okay.

^The thing is, it helps being funny when the judges know the references well enough to get the jokes. Snatch Game's humour is mostly referential.

They don't know Ayu, they don't know the references. The jokes would either get lost or Ayu would become a random asian person, something that would most likely end in some fucked up racist thing.

About Manila's Imelda Marcos, it's important to remember that she had 2 things on her favour:
a) Imunity, so she could fuck it up and she wouldn't be on the bottom
b) Mariah, Yara, Delta.

She could "flesh her character out", so to speak. The obscure picks of some of the previous contestants stood out by the #choices of characterization that were taken. And while there have been insensitive portrayals of asian on the show before, I tend to look at it as something that reflects the individuals and not the essence of the "Snatch Game" (that wordplay is terrible, ugh).

^But Ru and Michele at least were aware of the characters, and this helped several jokes land. In the end of the day, they are the ones you must impress to succeed.

I don't think I'd want to see Ayu impersonated.
But seeing inspiration from her looks incorporated into Yuhua's would be cool.

Just looking at her now though, I don't really get any Ayu from her. I think it's just the name... unless there are and I just missed them lol.
