The author being against the gay marriage doesn't mean his books have homophobic content, or that Britney agrees with everything he writes just because she enjoys reading it.

yeah this.

if Britney loves eating beef and you don't does it mean she's evil or that she hates cows or something

Well, actually I think fans are entitled to be a little surprised about this.
From what I understood, this man writes a very particular kind of book. They're not novels, they're books in which he's discussing religious and spiritual matters.
So, stating he's your favourite author, it's like saying she really enjoys what he thinks. Of course it's possible she has a different opinion on same sex marriage and stuff, who knows.

The last time I checked you don't have to agree with everything you read, even if you like it. And Britney came from a very conservative region of the USA, she probably wasn't that open minded until global stardom forced her to be.

How can you say you have the best of time reading about a bunch of opinions you plainly disagree on? Like I said, it'd be totally different if he wrote novels. But he writes what he thinks about stuff, and Brit enjoys a lot reading that, so it's just understandable that rises some questions.
Of course it's possible she doesn't agree at all: but then Britney says it's her favourite author. Or maybe she just doesn't read that much. My point is, given the type of books he writes, I completely understand the fandom reaction.

As much as I would love to defend Britney I don't know how... And his bocks have homophobic content. I now read some quotes and scaned pages of his books, he's the type of preacher who loves to take the bible word for word, even the most diabolical parts of it. He's a dangerous preacher, because he loves to say things like "God even loves his gay people", (even being the operative word...) which sounds "nice" and hides behind statements like this his actual hate sermon which contains racism, sexism, homophobia and hate towards everything that is abnormal in his eyes. I would say he's a very talented demagogue!

Yeah, that's also my problem. But like I said before, we know Brit isn't the smartest person on earth and comes from a very conservative family. I think she just fell for a demagogue like a lot of other people too, his books were -sadly- on bestseller lists after all. And I also just don't want to believe that Brit is homophobic.

I think you're all reaching to the stars on this one. Brit has stated time and time again that she supports the gay community and her gay fans. She's tweeted her support for gay marriage many times;

Quote:
Happy & proud to hear about the Supreme Court's decision yesterday! #Equality #LoveIsLove
https://twitter.com/britneyspears/st...83109289689088

and

Quote:
Love is love! People should be able to do whatever makes them happy!
https://twitter.com/britneyspears/status/1579156523

And when she made that video saying 'I love all my gay boys' for Fire Island's 'Ascension Party' (around the 0:37 mark)

And when her old friend Don Phillip came out to her on X Factor

Quote:
When the singer started to cry and told the judges and the audience, "I'm gay," the audition became emotionally charged.

"At the time I didn't think I was worthy," he told Britney. "I didn't think you thought it was okay that I am gay."

Britney was nothing but supportive. "I think it is fine you are gay," she said.

"When he started crying and saying he thought he'd never see her again and that he'd had a lot to deal with, Britney was comforting him to calm him," the source says.
http://www.people.com/people/article...604974,00.html

And in her interview with OUT magazine (popular LGBT magazine).

Quote:
In her e-mail interview turned cover story for OUT Magazine, the "Femme Fatale" herself revealed her views on other pop stars, plastic surgery and gay marriage, among a myriad of other topics. Spears called Christina Aguilera "truly talented," expressed her admiration for Madonna, and said regarding gay marriage, "I think everyone should be treated equally." When asked how she'd feel if one her sons turned out to be gay, she said, "I love my boys no matter what." Good news for Britney's gay fanbase, which is among one of the strongest in the music world.

The guy also writes children's book and self-help guides. Just because she believes in god and reads some of Max's books doesn't mean she believes whatever she reads, blindly.

By the way, have you all heard the new leak off of 'Britney Jean' called 'Passenger.' Really great song, but her label is going HARD on taking all of the links down. I can't find one anywhere to post here

Unless he has books about the lgbt comunity, I don't see how can this theme get a lot of space on his books... If he doesn't talk about it all the time, it's very easy to keep on reading and disagreeing on the parts she disagrees.

True that. And, to be honest, it'd be very unfair of me to judge her since I don't know what the books are about (nor I plan to find out, lol). And, as Sunrise pointed out, she has been understanding and kind towards these matters plenty of times.

Honestly, I don't think that Britney is crazy about the gay community like some of her fellow female popstars are. Gaga, Madonna and even X-Tina are much more outspoken about their love for the gay community. Britney has always given them the nod of approval when asked, but usually doesn't say it when she's not provoked. It may be because she's so conservative or just not that vocal about it, but I suppose it could make one wonder.

At least she is not a straight woman using her "support" of the gay community to milk them... And not all that confortable with the way some popstars show how much they love gay people.

To be honest I always loved that she was supportive when asked about it but never used gay people like Gaga does...

Well, part of that could be that she didn't really "choose" the gay community. They choose her. Gaga on the other hand actively sought out the gay community, imo.

There is a chance Gaga doesn't actually understand the gay community, despite her vocal support of them. Considering that she sought them out herself, I suppose one could question her motives. But, I don't know. I was never really a huge Gaga fan. Don't dislike her, but I don't stan for her. Always been a BritBrit stan <3

I have to say that there is one thing which really bugs me about this discussion. Other forums and online platforms I visited have tons of people saying things like "being against homosexuality is just an opinion like don't liking chocolate" and that because homosexual people always feel offended when one says they are against homosexuality no one can take them serious. I mean, wtf?
And then it stroke me that maybe that's the reason why Britney cited this man as her favourite author. She proved several times that she is supportive for the lgbt community and maybe she thinks about it as well as only an opinion. I don't like it when people say homophobia, racism, sexism and the like are just "opinions" and I'm not listening to a specific german rock band, because they are slightly a nazi band, although 99% of their songs aren't racist at all. As a matter of principle I'm not listening to them and I also don't have contact with people who say they are against homosexuality. But then again I'm living in an environment in which it's easy to do that because I have several people around me who think like me. If you grew up in an ultra conservative family and your friends are also like that it didn't may be that easy.

And Gaga is just plain annoying when making herself the spokesperson of the lgbt community. Because for her the lgbt community just consists of cliché gay men who are loving shoes and like to dress in drag. I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know that there are lesbian women out there.
Gaga just wants the attention when talking about gay people and gay men in funny dresses are better suited for the press and attention as the guy who looks like your neighbour.
