Enjoying the albums discussion, here are my thoughts:

Next Level - I should actually listen to this again soon, but unfortunately I think it is in the lower half of my Ayu albums ranking. There's a lot I love and enjoy about the album (Green, Sparkle, Bridge To The Sky, the interludes) but it's an album where I tend to listen to the individual songs as opposed to the whole thing.

I quite like Identity and Love N Hate but they're songs I sort of forget about. I maybe need to rectify this situation by listening to the album again soon! It doesn't help that Curtain Call is one of my least favourite Ayumi songs. It doesn't give me much incentive to finish listening to the album!

Love Songs - I rank this as one of my favourites and I don't feel it's aged badly. Then again, I quite like the "dated" sound. I listened to this album all the time when I first got it.

(miss)understood - This was the second new release album of Ayu's I got after becoming a fan and it's my favourite. To me, its an example of Ayu's different music styles at their best.

Pop - Step You, Ladies Night, Fairyland
Ballads - well every ballad on there really. The run from Criminal to Heaven is my favourite ballad secton!
Rock - Alterna, Is This Love?

And the PVs are some of her best too. For me (miss)understood is the perfect Ayumi package and a good album for new fans I think.

OT but you might have not seen this movie in a while. The soundtrack for Chicago is good. ESM does not even come close to that, with her daddy eating popcorn or whatever.

Uhh actually I love Chicago? I never said ESM was even remotely comparable; I said it jacked the instrumentation from the beginning of All That Jazz.

Hey! Do not set me on fire please. I did not get that. I thought you said that ESM sounds like a rip-off from Chicago (as an answer to why people hate ESM). In which I responded: cannot be, Chicago is awesome and ESM is not. No intentions here to make you sound like an idiot or whatever. Who does not love Chicago?

Putting up my two cents for the album discussion as well.

Love songs probably still is my favourite Ayu album (high up with Rainbow). And I felt like that from the beginning. Idk, this album isn't only cohesive, it also carries a certain mood without being to similar in individual songs (which e.g. Love again and A One do). There are so much strong songs on it - Love song, crossroad, Last angel, sending mail, blossom, Virgin Road. Just Thank U and Sweet Season are a weak point, but I can actually live with it in the album context, as they are indeed fitting. And I don't think it aged badly as well.
Though the argument about dated music never touches me, as I'm listening to a lot of artists sticking to one genre and also music from certain times ( 80's and especially '90s).

Rock' n' Roll Circus on the other hand is one of the worst Ayu albums for me, maybe even the worst. First of all the title is misleading from a musical standpoint, second there aren't that much strong songs on it. The ballads on it are pretty weak (which is already bad as there a bunch of it like with every Ayu album) and the upbeat songs mostly didn't click with me. I just like Microphone, count down, Don't look back and SLT from it. I was totally obsessed with Microphone and DLB back then, but now this vanished a bit, especially with DLB. Still, they're nice.
Oh, and the interludes are nice here. Doesn't help, that I dislike the covers and the photoshoot from it as well. Oh well, overall I can't connect with the feeling of this album. Feeling is one important point for me.
And again I overall thought like that from the beginning with this album.
I guess my opinion doesn't change much over time.

With NEXT LEVEL I'm really satisfied.
I did bring something different for Ayu. I still absolutely love songs like Sparkle, Rule, rollin', Curtain Call and EnergizE (though the vocals there are still a bit cringeworthy). The only song I find boring and forgettable is Days. So generic, never understood the hype of it. Great interludes and I actually really like the cover and the photoshoot ( though the one for the Tour DVD was even better!). Overall a fun and upbeat album, which is quite rare for her. I can listen to it as whole without a problem (ok, maybe with the exception of Days, lol).

An alternative listening of A ONE for those who found the ballad section too heavy:

The clowns at the beginning of CDL10-11 ~do it again~ are so fucking embarrassing. They went from being enjoyable during AT2010, to tolerable during RNRC 7 days' final, to downright awful for CDL. Do not want.

Also, Ayu, please don't perform Last angel ever again unless you're going to sing the entire damn song.

I was just watching RNRC the other day! I didn't mind them at the start, but then that opening became too long to hold my interest. I'm glad there aren't drawn-out acts like that this year.

On the topic of her lives, I'm grateful that they always make me feel better when I'm down. I've had this thought a lot recently and I just needed to say it.

Same here! I own many of her live DVD's and I've saved my favourite performed songs on my computer, so I can easily watch the songs that fits my mood ^^

I used to have Scar on repeat when reading Vampire Knight manga, the live version of the song suited the manga so well!

I wonder if Ayu will change her hair before her mini album comes out. I kind of expect her to.

Do you guys think she'll go blonde again?

Why hasn't ayu included theme of a nation on Memorial address? I mean..that album is already a messy compilation with genre changes everywhere..so, why not this song?
It pisses me off that I own almost all her studio albums but not this song x.x
I even have vogue CD with ever free but not &.
Love theme of a-nation. B couldn't even name it properly.
