I thought she had transferred to avex management ages ago. So she was still with her original company all this time...Wow.
I wonder what brought this on. I hope she wasn't locked in a "slave contract" and had to just ride it out. At least she isn't retiring and it seems like her 20th anniversary celebration has sparked something in her.

She'll be holding her first live of the new year on January 19th, 2020!
HITOMI SHIMATANI New year concert "La première étape" It will be held at Ore no grill & bakery, which she previously played at in August this year. The live will also be her first after leaving her management company, so they mention that there will be no FC priority tickets this time around.

Hitomi held the final live of her 20th anniversary this past Sunday! I actually got to go, and it was so fun! She mixed her crossover style, kyo koko style, and pop style to make a live that really encompassed her as an artist.

Hitomi announced last night on "eyes on me", her radio show, that the show will be ending by the end of this month, meaning there will only be three more broadcasts.
I suppose this probably is related to her going independent with a focus on music from next year.

She even opened up a new fan club as well.

Her new website doesn't mention avex at all, which I found odd. I didn't think she would actually leave avex without some statement being issued by both sides after a 20 year relationship.
I also find the new site is a bit messy, but it will probably improve as time goes on.

It is a little rough around the edges, but I'm glad she's still going strong despite her dismal sales. Has anyone tried joining her new fan club? I'm in Japan, so I have no problem, but I wonder if overseas fans are able to join.
Also, I think avex is just going to remain her distributor? Not sure, but she's at least independent of a management company.

So....
Hitomi had her live a few days ago, and it was indeed sold out. Fans definitely had a good time, and Hitomi enjoyed herself. It's funny how her sales are similar to Do As Infinity's, but DoA is the stronger touring act. Hitomi's official avex website has shut down, and redirects to her new website. I kind of wish that she or her people would clarify her status in regards to still being signed with avex. I was curious about the fanclub too, but I'm hesitant to join since it's quite new and all.

Yeah! I went to the live actually! It was nice, but felt so short. She also announced she at least wants to do one concert a year (like 2+ hours. She said she doesn't think she wants to do another 3+ hours concert again like this past December. lol)
Oh! If her old avex site redirects to her new site, then maybe she is still with avex? I don't feel like avex would have done that if that weren't the case. The fanclub app is nice. The biggest problem is that it's all Japanese as far as I can tell, so it wouldn't be very good for those who can't understand it.

She also released a single, "Mystic World", the first time she composed both lyrics and music in her entire career. And she will release a digital single in December and a triple A-side single in January including this Xmas song.
