She SHOULD have responded. She shouldn't respond to things like the whole ting with Mannie's friend and such, and rightfully she didn't (I am SURE she read tweets about the incidents) But when she is accused of something as big as not actually being divorced, she owes it to her fans to give some part of the truth. And she did it in a professional way. She didn't mention the incident. She didn't refer to Mannie. She simply said to not watse time on rumours. It was professional and needed.

I just think her response was rather redundant. It wasn't needed. It didn't particularly say anything. Don't believe the rumours? Uhm... duh. That part about character judging, while something we'd all say, is a touch unprofessional.

I guess the tweet was aimed at Japanese fans who would hear about his comment through the media and their blowing it out of proportion, while we saw the Tweet by reading it? Either way, she didn't need to respond.

But as with any rumour, there has to be something to be blown out of proportion. If somebody just makes it up, nobody tends to believe it. As with everything to do with the marriage, I'd put money on there being more to this than meets the eye.

I think people would have been more skeptical of her if she didn't say anything... and before when people saw Mannie's tweet and not ayu's response people wanted answers cause they were confused. If someone was accussing or saying something that made me look untrustworthy or fake, of course I would put in my 2 cents.

I think the "him" that Ayu used was a very general one and probably was supposed to indicate "anyone" rather than specifically Mannie.

IMO, responding in a very nonspecific way was very Ayu and I feel like she probably felt that she needed to respond given that not responding would allow for the public to formulate rumors which would lead to even more trouble.

It was very nonspecific, and I don't really think it was that insulting. But if it was me personally, I wouldn't have said anything. Especially if I didn't know if it was actually him or a friend of his, or a hacker or something. Maybe she knows for sure

But also, who knows, maybe her tweet was in reference to the Tomoya crap going around, or something else?

Yes, I agree, I wouldn't have said anything, if it happened to me personally. But with how public this all is, she sort of has an obligation to address it, because her personal life and work are pretty intertwined, and if she said nothing, many fans/paparazzi/whatever would begin to speculate more and more. Avex may have even advised her to address it, who knows.

I can only hope that she somehow privately made sure it was actually posted by Mannie before she commented, but then, that's just a hope.

Basically, either way (if she responded or not) she would probably be bombarded with questions about the rumors, so it was a lose-lose situation.

To me, it was blunt and made her point perfectly.

Should she have acknowledged his tweet? No. Not until the facts are in. Everything at this point is speculation, so I don't think that was wise of her.
