^ Problem is, when she does the crazy over the top lives, they're really, really good. She does them often too... but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to see many of them. That's why I wish that this could be a bigger event. I completely understand why it's not though and that's fine.

YES THIS IS PERFECT

A true revamp and not just an obligatory half-ass tack on, not that I had any doubts that Ayu could pull it off though. Glad to hear how this concert seems to have a very down to earth and natural feel. Must have not cost a lot nor used up a lot of energy which was the point.

This is a great setlist. 1~13 is packed with SO much win. Finding it hilarious how we were just discussing how monochrome was so underused last week and now it's there. Is some higher power reading this forum? XD

For those who are disappointed, I wouldn't mourn what 'could have been' yet... I have a feeling that this is meant to be a separate event and then she'll pick up with HLS later, it might even be the Final. Otherwise, I don't see why they'd even bother with the HLS Tour goods if POWER OF MUSIC completely replaced it.

Agreed on the quote from Michan (can't find it now, but quoted two posts above me). This was not a decision made to keep an image intact or to please other people. Can you honestly say something like that about Ayu, whose motivation for changing this concert was to re-inspire the hope and passion of a nation who's felt rather broken and bewildered in the past couple of months, and has suffered a lot of hurt? Glitz is wonderful and fun, but it doesn't touch your heart.
There was something Ayu wrote in her blog not too long ago, saying that this is something she has to do because of who she is: she is a public figure to whom many people look for an example, encouragement, support, etc. As such, she's trying to fulfill that role by stripping down to what she ultimately is: a musician. It's music that inspires people's hearts.

Anyway, at an Ayu concert, honestly, you're not going to start crying because Shuya and Ayu are lovers that can never - tragically - be (again!). ;P You'll cry because of the lyrics, and the music, and the rawness of Ayu's voice!

Just wondering, since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, has there been any word about whether any of the new arrangements are similar to the new ones from Ayu-mi-x 7 Acoustic Orchestra? While it really does seem like this new concert is about the music primarily, I wonder if there's a subtle hint of cross promotion with the new remix albums, or if the new arrangements inspired some of the set list.

i'm so thankful for this concert!! i loved the setlist (especially forgiveness, monochrome, NEVER EVER, part of Me, Moments and Born To Be...), and also the classic-acoustic thing... the whole set is wonderful and different from all the past tours =) and yeah, i agree with Larien, this concert is for Japan, for her nation, for a new hope!!


ps: im a little bit sad about HOTEL Love songs being postponed but i understand that... and i hope someday she'll be up on stage singing songs like "sending mail", "do it again" and "Virgin Road" <3

sooo, I looked at the setlist and outfit pictures now, even though I tried to stay away from it I have to say, I'd have never ever expected her to do just this, just the singing. But it's exactly what this tour is about, as the title says. So I like it and I think it will be very emotional.
And OMG she included SO MANY of my all time favorite songs, it's unbeliveable. BLUE BIRD, fairyland, A Song For XX, M, walking proud, Moments, Bold & Delicious, Mirrorcle World, UNITE!, evolution, Born To Be...!

I don't think the original theme got told... I think...

But I always thought it was ayu-mi-x 4's theme that was supposed to be for I am... for some reason. I think so because they made this special "ayumi hamasaki" logo (like a watermark on the ayu-mi-x covers) and AT2002 was all in that theme later on...

Yeah, I knew that. I was referring to the part about the MY STORY covers being the original idea for the I am... covers. Like MissElin_ I'd always thought it was the ayu-mi-x covers.

This is way off topic anyway. Haha

Also, I NEED to go see this tour. This is why I love Ayu, her raw emotions and songs. I like the sparkle and theatrics, but they'd just be cheap tricks without her charisma and emotion. Like somebody said above (sorry, don't remember who), I don't cry at a ballad because of Shu-ya and Ayu's love, or because of Ayu's acting faces, I cry at the ones where she stands there and portrays these emotions with just her music.

I am very thankful for this PoM tour as well. It really takes courage and passion to create a whole new concert, especially when something had been constructed in the first place. I am so touched when she said she started from scratch and learned how to sing. She knew that this tour is no easy task, but she still wants to deliver a message through music to Japan and to the world. I truly admire Ayu, not only as a singer, but also as a person.

at the same time i think ayu decided to not include any song of "love songs album" for one smart reason....after express her deepest feelings about the tragedy of her country with THE Power of Music Tour...she going back to business doing her planed Love Hotel Tour
