The album race is not interesting other than the fact that the #1 there belongs to a Korean boyband, so I'm not paying attention on albums as much as the singles this week...

I'm not surprised about Kisumai, but Yanawaraba #9? Yana...what? I mean, I haven't been seeing them performing well on the charts lately! Hopefully "Demo ne..." will put them back on the map, especially the fact that it's the theme song of a TV Asahi drama this winter (Thursdays at 8 PM)...!

Popular group, KAT-TUN have achieved their 20th consecutive no.1 single since debut with "EXPOSE." They debuted with "Real Face" in March 2006. The group is only the 2nd act (solo or group) to have achieved 20 no.1 singles in a row since debut after their Johnny's Jimusho seniors, KinKi Kids who achieved it from "Garasu no Shounen" (July 1997) until "Anniversary" (December 2004), 8 years and 1 month ago. KinKi Kids still hold the first place to this day with 32 consecutive no.1 singles since debut.

In the albums chart, singer Hamasaki Ayumi has reached the top spot with her 14th original studio album, "LOVE again," although it was released 2 days later than usual. This is her 2nd consecutive no.1 album and 20th overall. This makes it the fastest period for an act to achieve 20 no.1 albums with 14 years and 10 months, shortening it from B'z who have 20 no.1 albums in 17 years and 10 months. Hamasaki is only the 3rd act to have achieved 20 no.1 albums after Matsutoya Yumi who achieved it with "Neue Musik" (November 1998), and B'z with "MONSTER" (July 2006). Matsutoya still holds the first place as a soloist with the most no.1 albums (21).

Meanwhile, Domoto Koichi from popular duo, KinKi Kids has topped both the music-DVD and overall DVD charts simultaneously with his musical DVD, "Document of Endless SHOCK 2012 -Asu no Butai e-". This is his 6th consecutive no.1 music-DVD, a tie with Utada Hikaru for solo artists, and his 7th no.1 music-DVD overall. Since its premiere in 2000, the musical "Endless SHOCK" has mobilized almost 2 million attendance. This year it opened at Imperial Theater in Tokyo on February 4th, with Domoto approaching the record of 1000 performances in the same starring role this coming March.
