It's okay if someone doesn't know obvious things about her discography. If you appreciate her music and are keen on followin her career, than you're a fan. Simple as that.

People are taking the stan thing too seriously. I think most of us were just joking. Plus, the meaning of stan has taken on a new meaning, as many words do.

When did I say that nobody knows Eminem's song? When did I act like I know some obscure piece of music trivia which puts me above everyone else?

And yes it does have to deal with stanning, did you not read the post I was replying to?

And if demos, which are bought, are western or japanese, doesn't really make much of a difference. It's common in the music industry. Heck, we don't even know, which japanese songs were speficially written for her or "just" bought as well. And the other way round. Demos are made to sell a song, no matter if it's in the East or West.
Don't know, if you meant it like that, but you're sounding as this is something bad.
It's not a bad thing, it's just that when I go back through her discography, I realized that she has a lot of songs that are covers or unreleased demos from other artists. (From my perspective) Other musicians do it all the time, but I feel like with kumi we always find out about it. I mean, we never get to hear about anything in Ayu's discography that's an unreleased demo from another artist. I think In The Corner and Connected are the only songs we knew were unreleased demos from other artists. She probably has a bunch, but we don't know about them, with kumi, we always get to hear the songs she uses. It just seems unusual to me that for Kumi's discography, we know so much about the music before she records it.

I mean, someone actually uploaded a fake fan album of a bunch of the demos that kumi used like Lollipop and So nice. I think it's pretty cool that we get to hear that.

It's not a bad thing that her music is like this, but I feel like a huge part of her discography is covers, collaborations and other artists' demos.

And just to throw it out there because a lot of people seem to be quick to get angry, Koda Kumi is one of my top 5 favorite musicians of all time.

"other artists' demos"

This is how music is made, except when the artist is part of the production. There is always a demo, with a random singer, just to have a final song to send to record labels and stuff.
We actually have this kind of stuff because of people like me, who likes to listen to demos and go search for them. I even have the original TABOO demo with HIRO's vocals.

I don't get this as someone hating on her discography, but it just seems silly when people see this as a bad side of her songs: knowing that someone recorded first than her. And btw, besides the two cover albuns, she has around 10 other covers, of a discography with more than 250 songs.

Guys, I'm planning on drawing a full body shot of Kuu in almost real size (2 A1 pages), so yes, reaaaally big! It's realistic drawing.
Do you guys have any suggestions of photos? Preferably really good quality photos so I can really see details.
I will make sure to post the result here for you all to see

Can I actually ask then, what you point is?
That you just discovered, that her discography is partly japanese and partly western written? And yes, she has a bunch of collabos as she likes singing with other artists nd some covers, cause she made cover albums.
But Let me tell you again - Kuu doesn't have much covers.
2 cover albums and some randm songs here and there (from the top of my head Cutie Honey, Ima sugu hoshii and This is not a love song).
The rest is original ( and collaboration songs are original and doesn't have demos mostly as those are actually written for and with Kuu, so I don't even know why you're mentioning them - the only one we know is bough is So Nice and if I remember correctly thebshort demo wasn't even a collaboration, Kuu made it as one).
We get to hear those unreleased demos nowadays, cause production compabies actually use the internet to show and sell them AND people (fans) are searching for it.
In the past, we didn't get demos, cause people didn't know and didn't care.
And with Ayu btw. we do know about some.
All the GEO songs from (miss)understood or Reminds me from Party Queen e.g. Ayu just happens to use more japanese writers. The songs probably have demos as well - we just don't know them. And that's actually the same for Kuu and her japanese written songs - we very seldom get demos for them.
And just to mention it - Namie's _genic album solely consists of western demos. She even mentioned it in one of the interviews beforehand. Both Kuu and Namie are urban based or influenced artists.
It really depends on the sound an artist wants to convey.

Yeah no, I have no idea what you were talking about other than you take things way too seriously sometimes.

Your post has no point that I can see, that's not meant to be rude, I just can't see what you mean by it.

I wasn't talking about Eminem in my initial comment, that's what threw me off. I was strictly talking about HER covers.

I edited my comment because it was unnecessarily rude. But you might want to consider doing the same.

You mean this post?

I wasn't talking about that, I never even acknowledged this post. I wasn't even talking to you. I feel like we're talking about two different things.

Let me recap for you:

1. I was commenting on ayumisrael, who said that if you don't know that cutie honey is a cover, you're not a real kumi stan. (which was a joke that I didn't find funny because I have a lot of reservations against that term)

2. I responded to ayumisrael that I was perfectly okay with not being a stan because it's not a good thing.

3. I referred to it as "that eminem song".

4. You came along and said to me "You act like nobody knows that song".

5. Apparently me referring to "Stan" as "that eminem song" means I'm acting like it's some obscure piece of music trivia that no one knows about? I don't like Eminem, I don't like that song. Not my cup of tea. and I was referring to it like that as to not be confusing because the term and the song title are the same thing.

6. Then you decided to tell me that this has nothing to do with stanning. and I was pointing out to you that I was replying to ayumisrael.

I even said to you "did you not read the post I was replying to?". The whole post I said about koda kumi's music being covers and demos isnt related to this.

1. Fair enough about that point.

2. The only time I see stanning done negatively is off this site and on ONTD. Because everything is in extreme over there. I rarely see it done here. I don't view stanning as the same thing as having favorites. I know people use the two interchangably, but I view it as two different things. (one's a positive thing, the other definitely negative)

3. & 4. I was talking about Koda's covers, not Eminim. That's my fault for not quoting, so I definitely apologize for that.

5. Relax! Total mix up. We were talking about two different things lol

I actually love hearing the demos, it gives you to listen to how the song started and came into being before it was made for kuu.

I just respect that Kuu writes the vast majority of her lyrics, or, at the very least, will re write her demos to make them hers. Added to the fact that she self produces and is an amazing dancer/performer, I would say Kuu is a very well rounded artist. I have so much respect for her, her passion is really evident. And I think that's why fans are quick to jump on anyone who tries to discredit her, even if they are a fan themselves. People are always putting Kuu down as a lesser artist, for her sexier image, singing skills, etc. Its frustrating, because there are plenty of other singers who don't participate nearly as much as Kuu does in her music, and they are hailed as being superior, usually because their overall sales are better, have a less controversial image, or they simply like the songs better. So, yeah, its just frustrating to see people acting like she's some third rate pop star, when her passion clearly says otherwise, and I think that's why fans jump down anyone's throat, even when it's an innocent comment by another fan.
