Poroko Desaki doesn't do the double thing anymore but I'm sure she's still around Ayu in some form. Nowadays, I think they just have a female dancer "as Ayu".

I think she also used her body double for the motorcycle swap during Dome Tour, right? Where she was suddenly on the other side of the stage.

^ Yep!
Not sure if it's the same person, but a body double was used in opening Run in AT02 as well.

Does anyone know what happened to masa?
I tried to go on their website the other day and it was gone. I really hope their translations and analysis articles aren't lost

I think she actually had two body doubles back in the day...particularly when her schedule was so busy, they would use the body double in rehearsals for the staging and dancers when Ayu was too busy with other promotions and stuff.

I thought one of her doubles was Midori during DOME TOUR 2001

Wasn't the body double featured in the Uraayu DVD too?
But, it seems that unless you are Utada or Kyary, people can't stop hating. I don't know what is going on with the Jpop community the last few years. All i see is negativity and shallow criticism. If people don't like Jpop artists anymore, why are you still paying attention? ![]() Yes, sometimes even I cringe at Ayu sometimes. But her insta really isn't that bad.

His webhost stopped hosting websites a while ago and I don't think he migrated to a new service. Most of the info should be backed up in archives or here.

I hope that masa's work remains online, his articles are fantastic and really provide a glimpse into fan perceptions and interpretations of her work during her peak. I discovered Ayu a good few years after her peak, so I found them absolutely fascinating.
Speaking of her peak, I cannot believe her 20th anniversary is so soon. It makes me wonder what the release lineup is *actually* going to look like. A BEST 3 is probably going to happen, but I wonder what other goodies Ayu has in mind? I mean, she could go with A COVERS, a 20th anniversary single, a new album, a rarities and B side album, etc. I mean, she could surprise us and have a very minimal lineup - but I can't see Avex or Ayu choosing that path, unless of course she goes all out on her 20th anni tour. Either way, I'm hoping that she releases an album (whether it be original, rarities or covers) and gets a decent budget for PVs. It's been a long time since I really *enjoyed* an Ayu PV. I'm hoping for quality over quantity above all. I also wonder about her creative vision. I mean, her tenth anniversary was very glamourous and diva-like, and understandably so given that the eras that surrounded that time saw Ayu presenting herself as a mega pop-star. What will Ayu wish to convey within the releases of her 20th? |

Personally I'm hoping for an album of her songs covered by other acts.
Much like Utada recently did.

![]() But then I remembered that she has/had a double. The first time I saw her was the Dome Tour. Before then I had no idea. As for 20th anniversary plans. I have been thinking that it would be special if Ayu made a special compilation album that takes one song from each album that is the most personal to her. Or in other words, a song from each album that best represents that period in her life. Then one exclusive new song that represents how she feels now at her 20th year, or a song that summarizes the last 20 years. Something more meaningful than yet another greatest hits collection. |

I remember how Kylie in her PV from 2002 reminded me of that time ayu and MTRLG.

Kinda random but I was searching some book by PIE Books (a japanese publisher with a lot of design, arts & photography amazing books) and found this one from 2012 with Ayu on the cover: https://www.amazon.com/Advertising-P.../dp/4756242065 They featured Leslie as one of the photographers. It's interesting!
