I'm here. I'm here!!! New Tour? New Album? Oh my god. And, as Corvina asked, I'm not entirely familiar with this 'visualize' theme either. (Lord, I thought I was such a big fan of his since I thought I knew everything but I really don't.) What is the MOON project? I'm both really confused and incredibly excited. xD

Or just this kind of tour? I'm not that familiat with his concert history.

it's a VISUALLIVE...stupid MAC and it's autocorrect.....lol
still though i'm not exactly sure what he is meaning to say by this but apparently it's VISUAL+ALIVE+LIVE. He's been using this merged word for years now. What he has been calling "visualive" was his huge concerts the last one being RRII, i guess it's because he has a lot of stuff going on especially when it comes to pre-shot footage and DVDs. Some of them (for diabolos and RRII) have some effects added or pre-shot scenes that are merged into the performances. But for the most part the story and the visuals that are used in them i guess? It looks kind of like a theatrical play rather than a live performance? THE LAST means it's the last one of this kind. if he goes for the caliber he does them in Japan i am not sure it would be profitable for him to bring it overseas. plus they go on for, you know, 2 hours. RRII i think went on for 3-4 hours or something lol most of the times they had to carry him out when it finished, the man was completely drained out of energy he could barely walk on his own, staff had to to help him out..=| so this is also one of the reasons he's doing the last one. Because he said it takes a huge toll on his body and in general it needs a lot of resources and planning.

The MOON project....honestly? i have no idea it's been years since i've even read upon it somewhere and his writing is...complicated..... i know it's some sort of a chapter story/concept or something that started with ANOTHER WORLD single followed by Moon & Crescent albums and that MOON CHILD is a part of it too. there is an actual "document" that has been released on it years ago with all the concept written down, but there wasn't much said about it apart from probably early magz and interviews. You can hear it being mentioned in a couple of his tour DVDs by the narrator, too. i really need to renew my knowledge on this as well cuz i don't remember a bloody thing, now lol

I'm kinda shocked he's finally releasing a new album. It's been so long!

Too bad it's to be released only in march, but, hey, what's a few months after so many years?! I'm so happy

^lol they said the release date can change lol so....i guess that's what you get when u announce it half a year prior xD
also when it comes to original albums he's said numerous times in interviews that he does;t just make songs for an album, like everybody else does, he makes songs for a STORY that turns into a TOUR & then it all becomes and ALBUM. So i guess that's why it's been so long.

I am just glad that he is working on his new album
He released a bunch of singles from 2011-2015 although this worries me is it going to be in the vein of RE:BORN with all of his previously released singles included on the album.

i actually am not exactly sure what to expect from him.... that does scare me a little...though the thing is we didn't get any of the songs when RRII kicked in back in the day. Somehow i have hope that this is going to be entirely new stuff. A lot of the things he released were literally for different things, they are a little all over the place.

There are more than 10 singles since his last album release. Have these been included on those random best albums he's released over the years? I wonder if they'll appear on the album.

Some of them were, yes. I cannot pin point which ones but a lot of them ended up on WILD/MILD.

NEW SONG! Or i dunno maybe he did it for the drama...or whatever this is lol Nothing really special, doesn't sound bad, though. Very YFC, still.

And this is where it came from i assume? he really seems to be getting into coffee stuff lately.

I saw this on Facebook and thought it's a fun read. Netizens reacted to ARROW promo images lol

I tried to catch up on MOON back in the day. What I remember, it is also linked to the Tours (which also tell parts of the story) and is about Vampires.

Conceptually, the story of "Moon" is separated in four chapters, roughly, first chapter from the year 700 to 1300, second from 1300 to 1600, third from 1600 to current time, and fourth from current time to future.[13] The work in 2002 and 2003 covered the fourth chapter, while in 2005 in between the second and third chapter.[13] The whole story is set in both Europe and Asia, depending on the story and meaning wanted to be expressed.[13]

The story from the first chapter follows the "darkside inhabitants" - darts, who were scattered all over Europe, fighting for different countries even against fellow "people" (inhabitants).[14] The second chapter how they tried to make something that will surpass them and for purpose of fighting, so were created 13 "shitos" (使徒, apostle, disciple), but their body was incomplete and couldn't appear under the sun.[14] From the third chapter, now known as "vampires", is followed their life.[14] They didn't pursued their purpose of life, and as become aware of the darkness inside them, raises the question what is now purpose of their existence.[14]

In the story vampires were presented as an way of expressing the reflection of humans.[13] They long for immortality believing it's a wonderful thing, while vampires know how painful such an existence is and seek a peaceful death.[13] The "Moon" story is a symbolic story of war, the repeating of human sins, questioning what's the meaning of human life.

The theatre play is set in first chapter, in the late Heian (794 to 1185) and early Kamakura period (1185 to 1333) in Japan. The main character is young adult Yoshitsune Minamoto, from the Minamoto clan.[1] Like previous chapters, it is a historical fiction, a world with supernatual powers and spirits (Mononokes).[1] The idea was to create a story where the Oni (Japanese demons) were the origin of vampires, and eventually of the central character.[15]

edit: some of the singles of the last years are linked to MOON...like that SAKURA song. Those will probably end up on the album.

A lot of his recent stuff is in fact more influenced with orchestra than not. I'd say his pre-Diabolos stuff was far more aggressive than it is now. He didn't have much orchestra in his early works, it was more experimental, sharper and alternative, the symphonic rock only bounced in recently with RE:BORN. Even this single is symphonic rock influenced. BTW have you listened to this yet?

it's really inetersting though, because to me he was more unique back in the day, and what he does now and how he sings is more what you can usually hear, he sounds the same in every single song. I tend to like the rough stuff, that's not polished. Interesting how it's the total opposite for you lol but then again i came in being a rock fan already, pop music only played a part of few years for me, i have always been surrounded by old rock legends at home. So it really isn't a brainer why i like his earlier stuff. I think being unpolished, he shone brighter back in the day, than now when he became all sophisticated and clear. I still love his stuff. It's still good, cuz obviously the man has some serious talent, but it did became more of a grower for me rather than instant hit like it used to be.
I was under the impression he used to use more violins and such in the past, seeing as his work with Malice Mizer was very much reliant on that. Also, I guess I should be more specific in my comparisons. For example, the style he uses in MARS I am not a fan of. The album opens with him using a very high pitch, and to me, that entire album is much less aggressive than the stuff he released on Crescent. I have never been able to get into MARS. It's a very different style is all I can really say. The songs have a very "daytime" aura to them, and evoke that kind of scenery and listening environment; where as I prefer Gackt's music that sets the tone for an evening backdrop. "Haunting" is what I prefer from Gackt.

^hahah Ares that was! It's a falsetto of his (he is using it MUCH LESS nowadays, yes). I actually found that song to be quite interesting and haunting in it's own kind of way....MARS was his first actual full length album, i am not a fan of it entirely, too, i've gotta admit. It has it's gems, though, at least to me. It was lighter, yes. He was still transitioning from MM at that point. That baroque kind of sound they had, probably had him influenced a bit on it's own stuff. It still wasn't bad, i can agree on it being lighter, yes. But it has quite a bit of subtle drama in it which i find nice. Illness illusion is one of my ultimate favourites actually, because of that lightweight sound it has in the verses but then chorus kicks in and the guitars bring the force. Also i'm obsessed with circus-y music so it added up on that too lol
What i miss about his stuff now is that variety he used to have. No song sounded the same and still you could tell that it's HIM not somebody else. Starting from 2009 his stuff began sounding quite alike.

thinkingoutloud89, where the hell did you get all that from? o_O still sounds awfully complicated. I completely forgot to mention the plays! And yeah tours are in this whole thing too. Thanks for refreshing it up though. I remember reading this up somewhere years ago but i couldn't find a bloody thing of it online now. That being said....he really is obsessed with vampires, isn't he...lol

As for songs, Hakuro and Sakurai chiru.. are the only two that were used in this though. He might use them in the tour but they won't necessarily end up in the album. ARROW is probably going to be in it, since it has Yoshitsune in the music video and is linked to be the first glimpse at the story, so i assume it will be on it.

I don't think he'll include all, or even most singles in the album, otherwise there would be no need for such long time between the announcement and the release date. Can you imagine? "Thank you for waiting 7 years, guys! Here, this is my new album, which is basically a compilation of everything I released in this period. Hope you like it, and wait for my next album which is coming up somewhere in the next 5 years! " ... yeah, I don't think so...

@thinkingoutloud89: lol I didn't even remember most of that...

Reading this thread has made me realised I really need to give Mars a spin again! Also I still need to get Mild (and maybe Wild!)

I can't believe I forgot about this song until now. One of my favourites from Mars although my favourite from the album is Emu ~for my dear~

Gosh, this is some really confusing stuff when it comes to the storylines and all but that's okay. I'll just go along with it xD

Oh my God, I was just listening to Seki-Ray and I just forgot how much I loooooooooooove this song. Gackt really is the king when it comes to slow-pace, peaceful/haunting verses turning then into that strong, really powerful heart-wrenching chorus. He does them so well. More recently, he did it really well with Setsugekka The End of Silence. (Okay. That was, what, six years ago? Still. That's more recent than Seki-Ray, released in 2-freaking-thousand) I really live for his build ups from verse to chorus. They're always so engaging and intense. He's probably the only artist that I've learned not to really judge a song until I've gotten to the chorus to see what he's bringing to the table.

^Seki-Ray is good! I never was huge fan of it but i really like it. And He is a total pro when it comes to build ups. Even his ballads, rarely there's one that doesn't have it. Setsugekka is great, even my dad liked it. lol I think the weakest song he had from the past few years was CLAYMOURE. Hakuro and Sakura chiru... came after. Thought the video for CLAYMOURE was really good. BTW that video was directed by the same guy who did Ayu's Sexy Little Things and You were... .

i've watched Diabolos DVD yesterday...man it totally brought back the feelings! It's my favourite concert of his without a doubt. I completely forgot songs like Future, Storm, Death Wish and Metamorphosis. Even Ash that never was very appealing to me, sounded absolutely awesome. And his voice..... OMG....Lust For Blood performance is still giving me goosebumps.
My friend gifted me his whole DVD repertoire up to RRII so a couple of years ago, i think i'll need to rewatch everything lol

^i've had so much stuff on my old laptop, now i have none, so my only enjoyment is what i can find on iTunes which isn't a lot....

I do feel like my love is coming back... but i'm kind of scared to be disappointed, his stuff used to be exciting. It's very commercial now.And yet i still listen to that lol

BTW did anyone listen to that remix album he released recently? i'm just curious what people thought cuz i wanted to flip a few tables and punch GACKT a few times, for killing his own stuff lol But now i'm like listening and biting my tongue.....cuz a lot of them actually sound decent.

BTW the soundtracks for his plays are really gorgeous too. Classical mixed with Japanese traditional.

I wouldn't mind Gackt if he released another ballad album like Love Letter is one of my favorite albums by Gackt.
