^^well we were talking earlier about the release of (m)u...were you posting a lot then?

Anyways, a lot of people were disappointed with it. They said it was way too mainstream sounding, and many people didn't like the differences in all the genres.

And a lot of people hated the fact that she used so many GEO songs, and of course they blamed him, and they kept saying that the songs were all covers...

...kinda like now. Some things never change.

I was responding to Zeke. about shake it. In shake it at 2:21 is dubstep then it transitions into what I summed up as elevator music.

Oh, I definitely remember that from the song. SO random. Now what you said makes sense.

While I see her putting herself in reminds me, its still a huge mess. The instrumental reminds me of a migraine; from the loud metal clashing to the dubstep to the elevator music.
Not the same songs. I was like "Wait, there's no elevator music or dubstep in reminds me is there?".

I've just realized that this album gives me full strength faith in Ayu again, this is one of her best albums ever I can't get enough of it! She's got all the right elements those acoustic guitar summer-feeling songs like July 1st, independent, and girlish and then she has those sad songs full of doubt with intense vocal melodies, gothic undertones and intense rock and orchestrated music like in her Duty and GUILTY albums. Then she has the playful and addicting electronica songs like in NEXT LEVEL that I loved so much. Then she surprises us with some jazz in which I think she did a great job it's not her absolute best but I like it Eyes, Smoke, Magic is playful and fun then how beautiful you are is so touching and gorgeous. Ayu did a fantastic job with this album "she is back" I say with this album and her vocals are fantastic she is using her voice correctly and it shows. One of my top 5 favorite Ayu albums!

(m)u was a horrible album. Good singles wasted on a bunch of dud album tracks. criminal, in the corner, the title track - some of the most worthless songs in her entire career, but these were at least still better produced than 80% of Love songs.

I can't understand anybody who likes something like Guilty but DOESN'T like Party Queen. PQ features some of the strongest writing both lyrically and musically in a long, long time (except for HBYA - I wish it was written entirely in Japanese).

i know right?! GUILTY was totally something amazing. Dark and very driven in flavour..Party Queen goes that way too but there are added colours...and the lyrics and amazing.

i'll post my review here tmr..its getting late. heard the album's tracks here n there now a few times already

I wasn't on AHS at that time... By the time I found out about this place people were praising (m)u like it was God. It's interesting to know the album actually didn't get any special treatment and was shitted on like every other ayu album. Really reaffirms my belief that ayu fans rarely love an album once it is released but years down the road grow to like it. I'm glad I can appreciate an album when it actually comes out so I can enjoy for that much longer.

I agree. I don't know how anyone could dislike either of these albums if they care anything at all about ayu's work. I find GUILTY to be her strongest album as far as lyrics, emotion and vocals (I know people will disagree with me there but her voice carried such emotion in that album and that is more important to me than 'sounding good'). And Party Queen has a bit of something for everyone. Experiments for those who were crying for something fresh and new and classic ayu for those who like her for what she does best.

It amazes me that people can still complain when they've gotten everything they wanted in one album. Not so much because they may not like it but because they have to be such drama queens about it. It goes back to my point about fans being shallow. And no, I don't mean "I like to party all night and shake my ass" shallow. But that they can't dig any deeper into ayu's music beyond what they do or do not like and find something there. There are plenty of songs I don't care for in her discography but I never feel the need to bash them day in and day out because I wanted something different. And I don't feel the need to have unrealistic expectations for ayu and demand she does what I want.

I don't want I am... part II, I don't want something we haven't heard before (because at this point we've heard it ALL), I just want ayu to do what she does better than most artists in the Jpop scene and that's to express herself the way she wants. Regardless of what fans want, regardless of sales, regardless of what people think. That to me is brave and that is why I love this woman.

Yeah... as much as I love the middle part of the album (and I really, really do love it), I can't remember the melodies when I'm not listening to it.
It all mixes in one big mash up for me.

^ Do you two listen to them very often because when I first listened to PQ, I couldn't remember much outside of the beginning and ending tracks but after a few good listens I was able to remember all of the middle except for Letter - because I don't listen to it lmao.

I don't remember call ~ Letter melodies either. That's why I can't appreciate them so much.

Letter was easier cos it was just "massugu de, massugu de~~~" then i confuse call's chorus with it, until i listen to them again.

Just read the damn lyrics in order... It's not much harder than that.

Yeah that seems to be the way things go. I always find myself opposite though.

I usually have a much more positive outlook an an album my first listen through....and then it's like "omg how did I stand this song" lol

Party Queen...idk I still like the album, and I still think that it's a good album for her to put out...and I like the themes and concepts and everything...but I still wish the songs were more epic and amazing, also in comparison to other artists...and it just isn't for me.

But I guess, I can't really hold Ayu to that standard anymore. I suppose lol idk.

I was like that with Secret - Love Songs...
I really could stand the direction she was going in since Memorial Address and completely lost all interest after the album Guilty...
but then love Songs came out and I loved that right off the bat. Then I watched Next level concert and feel in love with that... so i decided to give the others a try and I finally like all of them..
Although Guilty bores me to death... still dont care for it..

I guess I'm one of the rare ones who loves ALMOST everything she does.

The only tracks in ayu's discography that I can't listen to in full (only including "original mixes" are:

Will
the next LOVE
Eyes, Smoke, Magic
from your letter
