Modelpress interview:
https://mdpr.jp/interview/detail/1670664 - Kuu had troubles choosing an creating songs for inside and doing a track order. She asked a lot of famous producers and artists to write for her. inside is supposed to be full of representative sounds of Kuu's old hits and nostalgic sounds, but in a more mature way. - even though most peope are listening on shuffle on their own these days, Kuu wants to keep to make full concepts with songs, their order, the content and the visuals. - BRIDGET SONG is like an adult version of anytime. - Yorokobi no Kakera is actually an old song she made in the past and it's from the same writer as Ai no Uta and WIND. So a signature Kuu sound for the public would probably be from him (Kosuke Morimoto). - outside is full of western urban sounds as she considers those her roots. - they shot all the 6 PVs in two days. - she needed a year to produce both albums. - she went to NY and LA in a short time to watch Beyoncé and lots of other shows to get inspirations for her shows. - she just chooses songs for those albums she wants to sing live

^Thank you!
Shooting 6 PV in two days? Amazing! , well, with one scene by video (Bassline have two) maybe is not amazing but I wonder if she was working all day in the videos. |

W FACE ~inside~ & W FACE ~outside~ 1st week sales/position
#1 - outside ; 20,246 #2 - inside ; 20,157 All in all , I'm real proud of what Kuu is able to accomplish with joint albums . It's not 100% perfect but what she did , I admired her courage for doing it as it's a bold thing to do but she went ahead despite the odds Also I'm very surprised Yorokobi no Kakera is an old song . I'm curious as to how it would have been released as a single if Kuu didn't released Ai no Uta And I'm glad outside outsold inside as I think between both albums , outside is more stronger & it's my favourite between the 2

Well, she's actually saying, there were reasons they had to do 6 songs in 2 days.

I feel like that's a real BUDGET SONG way of doing something that's supposed to ADD a visual to the song. If she only had two days, just film two decent PVs. Don't give us 6 shit ones. In her defense though, Ayu looks like she gets about 2 hours to film all the PVs for her albums.

As I said before, the problem is not the money or the time, it's just the execution and the concept.
--- Looking good on Utacon: Spoiler:
Tragic vocals haha she was crying the whole performance.

I've given myself a couple of days to digest W FACE...but the level of disappointment I feel about these two albums is unreal. I'm glad for y'all that found something to love but I just feel so let down.
I was super on board with the concept behind these albums when the announcement first came out and I really dig the theme of the 'dueling Koda Kumis" -- I've enjoyed that concept when she's explored it in her tours before so I was excited to see it done with a double album. My main problem with this release is that it delivers quantity over quality. The inclusion of older tracks seems like a feeble effort to pad these albums and justify splitting it into two discs--who is checking for Kimi Omoi literally three years after it was initially released? She's been performing BRING IT ON for ages, why did it need to appear on this particular album? Shhh!, while it fits in just fine on -outside-, could have just as easily stayed off an album. Your mileage will obviously vary but for me, shoehorning these songs in just cheapens the intent behind creating a concept album to explore the dual sides of Kuu. As far as the new tracks go, I feel very whelmed. (Sometimes underwhelmed, but never overwhelmed--unless I'm overwhelmed with disappointment.) I'm always here for one of Kuu's bangin' tracks but the ones on -outside- feel jarringly off the shelf. I don't see where she took these tracks and added her own unique perspective to them...literally anyone could release these tracks and I would feel just as meh about them. On top of that, I just find them bland because the songs themselves never seem to GO somewhere. Ultraviolet is the one track I find myself appreciating because I can listen to it and go, okay, there was some sort of structure in that song. I want the chorus to come and punch me in the face and not a single one of the tracks on this album delivered that. Bassline and Bangerang follow that same formula in the sense that, when I was listening to them the first time around, I was like "aight, I can get on board with this" and then the chorus comes in and it's like.....that's it? THAT'S FUCKING IT? I'm rambling now so I'm going to cut myself off. tldr if she really wanted to do a concept double album she should have committed fully and not stuffed it full of older songs and straight-off-the-shelf demos. chocopocky out~ |

So I've been listening to outside a lot, and it's pretty bangin' but I can't help but feel that some of the songs feel unfinished? The arrangements aren't as "full" as I'm used to songs from Kuu. W FACE, Bassline, Bangarang, Insane, and Ultraviolet are dope though.
Also, inside is terrible lol. I listened to it once and honestly can't remember what any of the songs sound like. My fun is also super awful and I wish I could unhear that.
