yay! welcome to the Arashi thread, sugarbasil!!! ^^

you should def. check out the new "truth" and "Kaze no Mukou e" PVs
also songs like "COOL & SOUL". and old school stuff like "A Day in Our Life" and "All or Nothing"

but some of the boyband-ish stuff was what sucked me into Arashi lol like "We Can Make It" and "Right Back to You" ^^

I really don't think they're losing their old style. I think they're the only JE group that has really stuck to their own sound. It's not like they do the same song or song type over and over again, they experiment - but I'm not sure how to describe it. X_X

haha, i do appreciate that they do a lot of different things, but it's just lately, they've been sliding way too much into the boyband pop territory for me. i could only tolerate it for so long. but, i get what you guys are saying.

Wow, "truth" is surprisingly good. I don't even like boybands for their music; I like them for their variety shows. But "truth" is a great song.

Wow, I totally agree with you! I used to be a big fan of Arashi (I even have folders and folders of their pictures saved on my old computer and tons of their music) but now their stuff hasn't been so grate..

i think "truth" is the only thing that's keeping an interest in Arashi for me right now. but, i'm sure they'll release something i'll like sooner or later.

dosen't NEWS and KAT-TUN have boyband poppy songs, too? "yorokobi no uta" anyone? (but i LOVE that song, though, lol ) maybe it's not that poppy-ish, but it's a cute song (aishiteru, aishiteru..). i think all JE bands have at least one or a few poppy songs. after all, they are boybands, so what can you expect? especially since it's JE.

"Yorokobi no Uta" stands as my least favorite KAT-TUN A-side, LOL. and NEWS, well, yeah, i do know they are really boyband pop.

JE in general is boyband pop, but well, i like some more than others.

If Arashi does boyband pop, I think their's is different. Even if it may be boyband pop, there's something that's not so boyband-ish about it. They have a style that's not so typical of that type of music. One Love was boyband pop, but I've never heard bagpipes in a boyband song. I think K8, Arashi, and KAT-TUN are the most unique JE bands (not including the senpai groups), who do have their pop songs, but at least have some kind of difference. Unlike plain NEWS. >,>

^ i said "least favorite". i don't hate it at all, it's Jin's comeback song!

i think "truth / Kaze no Mukou e" will sell around the same numbers as "Step & Go".

Hey, Reney, when do you think Arashi started having a drop in quality? Just out of curiosity, to see if it's close to when I thought they did.

i can't exactly pinpoint it, but i'm pretty sure it was "Step & Go" (i liked "Happiness" to a degree). that was the first single release i wasn't exactly excited for. i think "D'A'L" worsened it.

since you're still new , singles wise , check their stuff out from PIKANCHI DOUBLE onwards but the single that got me started on their music's their 16th single Kitto Daijoubu

albums wise , I recommend their 6th & 7th albums ARASHIC & Time .

I was shocked that the 1st week sales of Step and Go outsold Happiness within a week

the ironic thing's that I was so pissed that Step and Go at that time slaughtered Ken Hirai & Utada Hikaru , I still can't help but laugh right now in that I enjoyed the single a lot now

DAL - it's definitely not their best album as on 1st listen the non singles were really bland/un-memorable/boring but as time goes by , it does sounds better

Wow, Reney, we are like the exact same! I was loving Arashi sooo much until "Step & Go" too!

I don't think Step and Go was that different. Maybe because it was so different from Happiness, people thought they were probably headed in that sort of musical direction? :shurg I love both and I've finally come to like D"A"l, so whatever~~

it took me quite a while to warm up to DAL because aside from some non singles that I like on 1st listen like Move your body , Do my best , Your Answer & YOUR SONG , I didn't like the rest

I'm ok with it now & YAY the guys won at the latest VS ARASHI , Aiba was solid in the 1st game

The Perfume girls were super cute

I'm so glad Arashi destroyed Perfume. And DDD said that Nocchi would be the one to dominate all the games since she was so - well, I won't say that rude and untrue word.
