I really hope Ayu is ok, her health especially... I know it's complete speculation on my part, but the shorter setlist could be because that's what she's capable of delivering physically. I can't imagine how exhausted she must be.

It's not the first time she has a shorter setlist. She probably thinks she can get away with it, because it's a hall tour.

I got gaijin TA tickets for July 13th and 14th in Chiba. On the 13th I'm bringing my friend who has very little idea who Ayu is, so it's going to be interesting to see what she thinks of the concert lol
I like the setlist even if it is short, it's got a decent variety of the types of songs Ayu does. Maybe a lack of summer vibes though?

In Brazil it's usual for musicians to release a big concert for DVD or broadcast it and them tour a scalled down version of the same concert so people can watch it live. The video version ends up being promotion for the tour and not a register of it.
This is kinda watch she is doing now... What is nice considering she isn't selling many DVD and Bluray copies anyways and part of the public isn't aware she is a good performer. |

The set list is interesting. Wake me up is pretty uncommon. I'm still not too excited for the tour honestly. But it's still interesting to follow it.
I also think the shorter length isn't a bad thing. In the past I sometimes felt that Ayu's shows run a little too long. ![]() |

I attended the show last night at Chiba - just sharing some of my thoughts and feelings
1. To be honest, the show felt extremely disjointed. The first part of the show (starting from opening till STEP YOU) felt fresh, well choreographed, with new props (using of mirrors in Don't Look Back, even the interlude they had a new prop to interact with the audience where the dancers carried long poles of streamers through the crowd. After that, it just felt like a rehash for POA3. Had POA3 not been broadcasted live I think it will be fine but since many of her fans must have caught POA3 either live or via broadcast, I am sure it felt a little too familiar 2. Vocal wise, she started off really good, but once it came to Movin on without you she started to sound really coarse. She was using stronger playback vocals too, very evident in tracks like Thank U and STEP you. 3. Costume wise, only 1 new costume for the first part. It was a corset type I believe with puffy shoulders. 4. Ayu looked great overall but she looked also rather tired. In all I would say if you haven't caught POA3, do catch this tour! I think it's still an enjoyable one. However, if you have already seen POA3 you may find less entertainment value. Nevertheless it was still a good experience for me. I was also surprised to see so many fans in their teens / twenties there. I wonder how they came to know of Ayu, since she hasn't been very actively promoting in recent years.

I've always loved watching new Ayumi lives but is it only me how misses her new music? I remember waiting for news about her new concert to watch performances of new music but that era is gone.
I think she deserves to rest for a while. Create more music and come back as the queen she is. Ayu please, a new full album would be great. |

It dawned on me, looking at Generasia the other day, that it's been 3 years since we had an album, nearly 4.5 since we had an original single. I think it's OK to take a break, but I'm a little peeved that Ayu has done these back-to-back tours for the last few years with little to no attention paid to the other areas of being a music artist, like new music, PVs, fan-based events and interviews and public engagement. If she's going to just go on tour, set up a residency in Tokyo and just perform the old hits 3 nights a week until she retires for good. Going on tours but not making an effort anywhere else is just confusing and misleading. This is her fifth tour since Made In Japan was released in 2016. I could see her doing occasional performances, but headlining tours are usually announced with new albums and compilations attached, even with artists that have been around for 40 years. It's a bit frustrating that Seiko Matsuda will only tour with a new release, that Yumi Matsutoya will only do it with a new release or a new compilation record, that Koda Kumi will double up on new albums to justify two tours in the same calendar year, but Ayu is like "I'm going on the road again! Performing all the same songs I performed the last FIVE times I went on tour." And even at this point, making minimal changes between actual tour performances. I thought it was bad when the CDL and the tour became indistinguishable a few years back, but seeing some of the reviews and knowing the 2019 tour was announced as a brand new tour and it's damn near the same tour as the last one with a few song changes... It's like, please, Ayu, apply yourself a little. She's so much more talented than to settle for low effort, low creative output. Sadly, I keep hoping that one day she'll host an Instagram live or something and tell us how she's really become dissatisfied with things over the last few years and that she's going to go back to releasing new singles, filming new videos, releasing new remixes and a new A BEST and A BALLADS, and if people buy them, great, if they don't, it doesn't matter because there will always be someone out there whose life will feel fuller because of it. She's worth nearly a half billion dollars. Even if she kept her budgets to 50k-100k per video, it would take her decades to burn through a noticeable portion of that. Just do it, Ayu. Do it for the sake of art, even if a lot of people don't see it.

^ I think you are only viewing the situation from your own perspective. I think it’s great that she can tour without having a 2 CD albums filled with absolute trash.
Maybe her condition is actually way worse than we know and are aware of and just maybe the next tour might be her last? Also doing stuff for the sake of art, requires inspiration which she might lack right now. Being on a constant release schedule for 15 years takes its toll on you. If touring is an aspect of her career she enjoys the most, I say she should do it for as long as she wants and for as long as there are people ready to pay and see her. Don’t get me wrong - I want her to do an epic album and do an arena tour to promote it, but at this point I’ve just decided to hope that an announcement will at some point come and be patient about it, as she has plenty of songs to listen to. |

How long she will be able to hold concerts back to back without new materials new concept etc... until her fans gave up on her ? I mean the tickets are not cheap I’m quite impressed that her fans still have money to spent to see her so frequently.
I really don’t get the direction her career is taking and how she want it to be ? To me her career is probably the biggest waste in the J-POP history ... she became a shadow to the point people began to forget how big she was in the past. I read a lot of article recently about the singer of the Heisei era and in some of them Ayu is reduced as just a girl setting fashion trend in the past without mentioning her influence & contribution to music. Worst, some of them don’t even make mention of her name. My comment sound bitter but I’m just sad how the things goes for her at this point. |

^yeah I noticed that too. Japanese press doesn't even bother to mention her name anymore. I even read Kuraki Mai's name a few times now in articles but no mention of Ayu. lol She became irrelevant to a point where she is just a note in history.
To be honest I think she has to blame herself for that. She made so many bad decisions when it comes to marketing and PR and also choices regarding her artistry that it is no wonder. I'm at a point where I don't care about her bad PR choices anymore, but that she doesn't seem to give a damn about her music and artistry since years now is really bothering me. |
