I'm sick of seeing boybands dominating the charts, but it's not because I don't think they deserve it. If their fangirls love it, then that's great. Some of their tracks can be catchy. But. I don't find most boybands talented. The ones from Johnny's definitely aren't that great. As much as Ryo is hot, he can't sing, let's face it. KAT-TUN would be on more talented side but I don't listen to them because their songs aren't great. (I like watching their show though because they are freaking hilarious!) Boybands like Tohoshinki are much much much more talented. Well, Korean boybands are usually really talented compared to Japanese boybands.

It's because JE has been a staple in the Japanese music scene, ever since the late 70s. Tohoshinki's music has been total CRAP all year so they don't deserve that number one that they got, at all. JE boybands may not be the best singer, but their music has been consistently great and totally deserve their number one spots. JE is not just about singing, it's about dancing and acting also and JE also are amazing in those fields.

They are better actors than singers, that's for sure. I think it's maybe one of the reasons why they sell a lot. Because they are not just popular as singers but also as actors. I don't really follow Tohoshiki so I can't say if their music is "crap". Korean releases > Japanese releases.

I guess I can't judge JE bands too then. It must be frustrating for you because you know them best. It's not so fun to hear other people say that they don't have talent. I guess I can understand those feelings because people think the same way about Hello! Project. Yet, at least half of them sing better than Ayu. :X

I have to disagree with that. I'm assuming I'm not as familiar with H!P as you are, but I have listened to quite a few songs and never found any of their vocal abilities impressive at all. :<

Sorry dddaiyamondo. @_@
Haha, no, it's okay, I just think it's quite obviously that most people dislike the JE boybands. There's no reason for people to say "OMFG I HATE BOYBANDZ!!!" a million times over and over. Everyones hates them, but there's nothing we can do And it's just going to start fights.

So, what's wrong with JE having the same type of success?! =/
I agree with this. I also love your set, L~V~!!! But I miss seeing Rain's abs from your old one

I'm sorry, but the same could be said for quite a few other Japanese singers. Even Ami Suzuki, the girl in my set, cannot sing for beans, but I love her irregardless. I guess we all just have to respect others' tastes and let people buy what they wanna buy

I'm not surprised that people think that. But you need to check video in YouTube of Momosu's play called "Ribbon no Kishi". You'd be surprised how they sing well. All live:

I'm a huge Ami fan but I think her voice is absolutely terrible sometimes. Listen to "Be Together" sometime, it's a great song but her voice is hilariously bad. But she more than makes up for it with other things (amazing songs, cool looks, great production). But yeah, the point is that those JE members may be talentless to you, but to other people they're great and talented, and the people you may like have no talent in their eyes. It's all subjective

LOL! Well, her voice was not the best in her Sony days. Just like how Ayu started off really high pitched. But now she's great! Especially in "Crystal". <3

And no, I don't think JE members are talentless. But I do think that they lack in singing compared to their acting.

PUFFY is still in the top 30, but nobody cares. :<

Seiko's new album is doing alright too, didn't like it as much as her last though.

Miki Fujimoto and Aya Matsuura are great singers btw, Tom Punks.

I like the way Ami sounds most of the time. As for the boybands, I don't care much about them, I tried a few NEWs, KAT-TUN and Arashi songs, liked some, hated some, and I think that besides the way some of them look, there is nothing that special about them, and sure they are talented, but simply don't make the music I can listen to. It seems Japan is going through a long boyband phase, but it can't last forever.

while I do agree with you on that to a certain extent , you gotta admit they do can harmonise well in some cases .

I think it takes a lot to be a jack of all trades in that for a fellow JE person you must sing , dance , act , host . It's a chore to be good in all areas

EDIT - shouldn't a 3rd Oricon thread be started now ?
