she's dropped from her management, which is VISION FACTORY. i think namie is on this management too, right? it's not official that avex (which is the actual record label. cutting edge is just a sub-label of avex.) will drop OLIVIA, but if it wouldn't be so surprising if they drop her as well, especially when a BEST album is going to be released. so in a way it all just adds up. but until an official statement gets made or whatever, let's just hope for a positive outcome of this, which would be OLIVIA continuing to release music on avex, or a different label.

I think a possibility is that avex don't like the music OLIVIA is doing right now, they want NANA-esque music

As far as the rest of the music that will be released, do any of you think that the majority of the songs will come from The Lost Lolli and Synchoronocity? All of the songs from her mini-albums except for 5 are on these two albums . And from the list posted, songs from OLIVIA inspi' Reira (Trapnest), The Cloudy Dreamer, Trinka Trinka, and a single song from The Lost Lolli has already been confirmed.

I don't think so. I think songs from TCD and her inspi' REIRA songs will be on there, most all of them. Those are the ones that the japanese really seem to like. Shame, because I much prefer her "darker" songs.

It's going to suck when they make a second season of NANA once the manga is finished and they'll have to find someone else to do Reira's music. O__O

With the luck of animes today, Aya Hirano will probably do it herself if there's a NANA season 2 since she was Reira's Sieyuu. THAT'LL be horrible

Exactly. It was NEVER stated that they tried to make her retire. I mean, retiring at her PEAK?? That's unheard of.

Avex didn't tried to make Ayu retire, it was Ayu who thought that Avex would drop her after the release of A BEST

I always thought avex tried to get Ayu to retire after A BEST so she'd "go out with a bang" :S I could've sworn I read something like that somewhere but I guess I'm mistaken, lmao

@GRACE I know VF dropped her xD But that's only her management, it doesn't mean avex dropped her yet as well

I'm looking forward to this best album... Maybe if she was a bit more constant with her releases she'd have a bit more success but oh well. Maybe she'll sign on to another major company; I think that'd be best.

It's no coincidence that both Anna Tsuchiya and Olivia were signed on to Avex. Probably has something to do with contracts with the companies I'd imagine, so I'd think it's improbable for them to sign on a singer with no record deal or an indies artist to do the music. Just doesn't seem likely.

Super off topic and I apologize to the thread, but it was Ayu that said that at one point she wasn't sure if she would ever release another best album so she wanted "to go out with a bang," and she said this in that TV interview around the time of No way to say.

Episode 6 was essentially Episode 1 but redone.

Ohhh, okay :3 Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me!! ;D (Sorry about the OTness as well ^^; )

And yeah, I can't imagine anyone besides OLIVIA doing Reira's singing voice either :/ So maybe avex will keep her around just for that purpose??

Well I got from the interview documentary was that avex forced A BEST on her to compete with Utada (I guess to show that she could beat anyone, but Hikki ended up beat her in the end. It was close tho), and she was pissed that they forced her best album so soon in her career. So afterwards she was gonna quit avex and move to a new label because of how little control she had over her own career, but then they caved and gave her more control.

But anyways; Yeah its not looking good for OLIVIA. Vision factory dropping her says a lot. They don't think she's profitable so they got rid of her. I think if this best sells good then avex will probably keep her. But if it tanks then she's as good as gone.
