Ayu's albums are usually very versatile, the singles don't always accurately represent how the albums are going to go! I just know one thing, better not be any ballad album tracks!

^ *clap* You can always sum a thread up emiko.
![]() --I meant your previous post on the last page. ![]() I agree, even in this time where "Ayu isn't trying anything new", it's still more creative than a lot of people. And maybe you're right. Maybe there will never be another I am... or (m)u or Duty or whatever. If that's the case, I'll just listen to those albums, and hope that I'll like her new stuff. ![]() |

It would be great if none of the 48-49-50th single songs were featured on her next album, and she surprised us with an album full of unreleased tracks, but that probably won't happen. I saw someone say they thought RAINBOW/Memorial address were low points? That is shocking to me. I adore RAINBOW and Memorial address so much. I love Memorial address even more because it's a mini album full of absolutely epic songs. I wish Ayu would do another mini album to be quite honest, all with fresh material. I also don't understand all of the hate for GUILTY. It was a pretty raw, emotional album, and mostly rock influenced, which I love, so it's one of my favorites. The only album I really can't get into is LOVEppears, I only like a few tracks from it, the rest are pretty repetitive. OMG not Trauma AGAIN...>.<

I know I love Memorial address too. It's in my top 3... and so is RAINBOW.

Her low point (for me anyway) was around Secret, and then GUILTY, but even then I love some of the songs on GUILTY so it wasn't a low point.
Her low point as far as covers and what not, started around R/S and haven't really stopped since then, lol. S/S was bad, YW.../B were just okay... don't get me started on L. |

I don't get the hate for GUILTY either. It shocks the hell out of me that people don't consider that her most emotional album on the planet! I find it way more personal and the lyrics way better than any of her other albums to be honest. Definitely a favorite of mine. I consider GUILTY a high point musically but a low point emotionally. I don't like to see my baby sad so I'm glad that era is over lol.

i never understand GUILTY dilike either. i think some fans dont like a lot of the darker sounds or heavier rock tones. and are probably just not used to it in general maybe.

part of the problem i notice is fans saying how experimental she was in her early career. something different (although tbh thats not completely true anyhow). but what im saying is that when u only have 2 or 3 albums behind you you still have a lot more room to grow so duh its easy to seem like shes being super experimental and all. when u have nothing in your past/ but look where we are now. 12 yrs in her career. its not exactly as easy as it wouldve been some time ago. and some fans make it seem that its so easy without realizes in essence times change and people grow and many unavoidable factors that are never considered by the typical fan. variables are always a pain though. but they make nothing concrete as with ayus career which is treated like so by some. ![]() ayu imo is much more versatile than many other jpop artists i listen to ![]() |

I don't know what was the low point in her life during her fame (there sure were a bunch of them), but musically speaking RAINBOW and partly Memorial address suffer from weird melodies that seem a bit uninspired at closer inspection. the arrangements contributed more to the songs than the actual melodies which tells quite something.
vocally, I'm not sure if we're out of the low that began to hit hard with GUILTY. I consider NEXT LEVEL and Rock'n'Roll Circus as her least proficient albums in that respect. although the quality seems to vary from song to song even on the albums. with her latest live I'm a bit more confident that there's some room for improvement, but not like in the old days. it's bothering me quite a bit as I'm unable to not hear the weaknesses in one's voice. |

Definitely GUILTY. It's just an album of weak songs

^I thought that when they first came out.
I dont really know about the lyrics...but the songs were extremely forgettable the first time I listened to the album all the way through... I still can barely tell the difference between dlma and decision...and I think there's another... But I came to admire the very raw quality to a lot of the songs...not to mention that the interludes on the album are top notch. Some of the pop songs on the latter half I cant remember musically too well either...but they are very Ayu, and very emotional songs. Some people just...might not care about that.

^ Probably because those lyrics have nothing to do with them. People claim they love Ayu's lyrics because they connect with them but GUILTY's lyrics are ALL about her. They're all about her recent events, not necessarily relatable but definitely super emotional.

GUILTY is the album that turned me from a casual "I-love-her-music"-fan into a true "omg-this-woman-is-amazing-I-wanna-buy-all-her-albums"-fan.
I love that album to bits. |

The only thing I'd like to add is she's still in that state to me. The overall quality of not only songs but albums and singles has diminished quite a bit. :/

I'm hoping she brings some fans back with L. Virgin Road sounds like it will be pretty epic~

In my opinion, RAINBOW is one of her best albums (one of my favs after I am...). For me, her low point wud be when she released Secret, the songs just didn't sit well with me. However, unlike many people, GUILTY has some of my favourite songs (Marionette, talkin 2' myself, etc) and is one of my favourite albums. Most of her earlier works are the best, but I do agree with most people, Ayu has gone down in quality and creativity.
But she's still the best ![]()
