Can someone explain me the red and white team thing? I have no idea, why they are in different teams.

Not really sure myself how it started, but the main division is by gender. So the red team is effectively a girls' team, while the white team is for the guys. Mixed groups like AAA gets placed with the guys mostly, while ELT used to be with the girls because the lead singer's a lady.

The red and white colours probably had something to do with the fact that those are the 2 national colours of the flag. Though I'm not sure why the reds are the girls and the whites are the guys.

basically RED TEAM = girls, WHITE TEAM = boys

this should confirm that she'll do CDL also this year as Kouhaku live show is hold in NHK Studios very close to Yoyogi in December 31st ☆ ＼(^o^)／

I think the RED team has a fighting chance this year. Kumi's anniversary, Kana's star power, Ayu's benevolent ballads... I think the girls will bring their A-game this time around.

They'd better be - but be careful of ARASHI's fangirls who could actually be voting for the white team, and it could be an interesting fight between the red and the white teams this year because ARASHI and AKB48 are the two hottest groups in the Japanese pop industry, and it could depend on ARASHI's fangirls for the white team and the AKB48 fangirls for the red team...

really? that so....... understandable i guess

I would love to do that, having fun and sing your song it is fun i think. Playing fun game (right? or what are they doing else? i never saw it only the prefermance i saw).

But

otherwise, what's better playing with some celebs or just having a nice family event?

Well, I'm pretty sure Namie preffer being with her son, considering she makes her entire schedule thinking about him... And Utada always felt like an outsider on the most tradional aspects of japanese market...

I don't care about Kouhaku anyway... IMO it's always very bland...
