I agree Prism is a grower. At first I felt a bit let down, but after a few more listens I really started loving pretty much every song.

Me too tbh
I legally purchased it from Walmart (zinepak) and when I buy albums, I have more respect for them. The lyrics are childish, yes, but you have to take the album for what it is.

The Problem With Katy Perry’s “Prism”

The pop star’s disappointing new album sounds exactly like what people who hate pop music assume all pop music is like.

Great article

Great article
Loved the article. And it perfectly sums up my biggest problem with her:

"Singing unapologetically dorky dance-pop songs that frame love and sex in the context of regressive, childlike imagery is, for better or worse, Perry’s strong suit. But she was already pushing it on Teenage Dream; remember how she spent an entire song chanting, “I wanna see your peacock, pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~, cock”? Now she’s almost 30 — isn’t it time to at least approach sexuality with the maturity level of, say, a high school senior?"

Edit: LOL at the pretty pony censorship xDDDDD love this xDDDD

Oh okay to the article. Still gonna pop a p**** to this album irregardless if this sounds like "tired" pop music. Katy is playing it safe and personally, to me, delivered a very well-done album that has a lot more color than Teenage Dream. Hell, Katy's consistency is much better than what Cyrus and Timberlake attempted to do with Bangerz and 20/20 2 of 2. There is something light about this album that keeps me coming back every single day.

Do I dare say it...

This is my album of the year.

Now excuse me, Dark Horse is playing, I need to go twerk.

^ Twerk that ass!

I don't know. I liked the album and it felt inspired. I have to admit I hated it at first but it grown considerably on me. To be honest, I don't think her album sounds tired or generic. And personally I don't really think it's like what others are releasing right now. In the end of the day if I like the song I like it and it barely matters if others think it's crap.

Maybe it depends on the fact that I didn't expect a masterpiece or anything breathtaking, but Prism was absolutely fine.
A lot of people I talked to hated it, but they sound like they expected who knows what. And I'm like "...You remember this is Katy Perry, right?" I mean, if anything she sounded more grown up and collected here.
It's a fine, nice, not-at-all-perfect work. Basic, light, fresh, fun pop music, with a personal and honest touch. And that's Katy Perry for you.

I picked up my copy today <3
To be honest, I like Teenage Dream better, but PRISM is a great album, to me, too.
I like the fact it's pretty different from what other artists release nowadays, it's not full of electro tracks. As marty said, it's fresh, light and this is what I wanted to listen to. I'm not disappointed at all. I like all the songs but my favorites definitely are the ballads (Unconditionally and By the Grace of God).

I wasn't too sure at first, but it's definitely a big grower for me. I just love it from beginning to end. I'll go grab my copy next week ♥

At first I didn't like any of the deluxe tracks. But now the only one that hasn't grown on me is Spiritual. The other two are gorgeous.

it's still on top 10 of Oricon Album Charts. 23,513 copies sold so far in Japan.
