Sakurai Sho to be the main host for NTV's 'MUSIC DAY' once again

It's been revealed that Arashi member Sakurai Sho will be the main host for NTV's live music program "THE MUSIC DAY 2015: Ongaku wa Taiyou da".

This is the third consecutive year for Sakurai to serve as the main MC.

This year, the music program will air live for 11 hours from the main venue Makuhari Messe, and many artist will show their great performances. In addition to the performances, there will also be other segments including on-the-spot broadcasting from various places in Japan, recorded videos, and a segment that the viewers can participate in.

The theme for this year is "Ongaku wa Taiyou da" (lit. Music is the Sun), and it will liven up the beginning of the summer with music.

"THE MUSIC DAY 2015: Ongaku wa Taiyou da" will air on July 4 starting at noon.

Arashi's Ohno Satoshi to hold his second art exhibition "FREESTYLE II"

Arashi's Ohno Satoshi will be holding his second art exhibition “FREESTYLE II” in Tokyo, Omotesando Space O. The exhibit will be held on July 24 – August 23. This comes 7 years after his first art exhibition “FREESTLYE”, which was held in 2008.

In addition, Ohno will be holding his first overseas art exhibition “FREESTYLE in Shanghai 2015″ in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Johhan Art Museum on July 9 – 29 this year. The exhibit in China will display pieces from the first FREESTYLE (50 – 60 sculptures and 20 paintings). Ohno ,“I did not imagine to hold an exhibit overseas. I wonder what kind of reaction would they have? It’s very interesting.”

New works will be displayed in Tokyo, 15 sculptures and 15 paintings. His artwork collection book “FREESTYLE II” will be released on July 24.

Total number of albums and singles sold by Arashi reaches 30 million copies

Popular group Arashi released their 46th single "Aozora no Shita, Kimi no Tonari", which is the theme song for member Aiba Masaki's ongoing Fuji TV drama "Youkoso, Wagaya e", on May 13.

According to Oricon, the single sold 501,000 copies during the first week, and it topped its latest weekly ranking.

When including the sales of the single, the total number of singles and albums sold by Arashi have reached 30,413,000 copies (46 singles: 21.74 million, 16 albums: 8.673 million).

This single is also the group's 35th consecutive (42nd accumulatively) No.1 single, and its first week sales exceeded the previous single's 465,000 copies.

Arashi provide CM song for 'Zexy'

Arashi have provided their new song "Ai wo Sakebe" as the CM song for wedding information magazine 'Zexy'.

According to creative director Yanai Michihiko, this collaboration came about as he wanted "the 5 members of Arashi to sing 'a national song of celebration' that everyone can sing together during a wedding reception." In response to Yanai's request, Arashi put together a cheerful and uptempo wedding song that's sung from the point of view of the bride's male friends.

On the song, Arashi commented, "The lyrics are made up of words of congratulations that you are too embarrassed to say because you've known each other for a long time as well as feelings of slight loneliness. It would make us happy if you would love this song that will liven up weddings and celebrate a new threshold."

The CM will begin airing nationwide on May 22 at 7:00 pm JST. It's also available on Zexy's official website.

Arashi to release 'THE DIGITALIAN' tour on DVD & Blu-ray

It's been confirmed that Arashi's 5-major dome tour 'ARASHI LIVE TOUR 2014 THE DIGITALIAN' will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 29.

'ARASHI LIVE TOUR 2014 THE DIGITALIAN' was held to coincide the release of Arashi's new album "THE DIGITALIAN" (released in October of 2014). They held a total of 18 shows in November and December. The new DVD and Blu-ray will feature the Tokyo Dome concert held in December.

The limited edition will come with 3 discs. The privilege disc will include behind-the-scene footage called "Suppin Digitalian" that the members recorded.

First artist line up for 'THE MUSIC DAY 2015' revealed

The first line up of artists who will be performing in NTV's live music program 'THE MUSIC DAY 2015 -Ongaku wa Taiyou da.-' on July 4th has been revealed.

The first line up includes 66 artists including Arashi, AKB48, EXILE, Perfume, SEKAI NO OWARI, Mr.Children, Yuzu, and more.

The program will feature over 100 songs live from the main venue Makuhari Messe, Shiodome Live Stage, and other locations. More artists will be revealed at a later date.

Ohno Satoshi Designs For JAL "Fly to 2020″ Campaign

Japan Airlines Co. on June 27 started flying a Boeing 777 jet decorated with images of the five Arashi members on the body. Arashi, who has served as ambassadors for JAL, was present during the unveiling of the design at Haneda Airport hangar. The event was also attended by JAL’s President, as well as the organising committee chairman of Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Foundation.

Ohno Satoshi, the leader of Arashi, created the design, which also includes images of Mount Fuji, insects, flowers, and Japan’s Four Seasons. Also added is a rainbow using Arashi’s colours . Under these images, a message says, “Fly to 2020.”

The design and service commemorate JAL becoming an official partner of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. The services, connecting Naha Airport, Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Osaka Airport in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, will run until around March next year.
