I don't like American System, it's like they recycle songs from the album.
I like Japanese System because they anticipate the album and so it gets more exciting to buy the album.

I think the American way works better, from a music industry stance 90% of American albums have longevity. 90% of Japanese albums don't. They debut always at their peak, then a month later they're off the top 20.
As a fan, I suppose the Japanese way works best as their is less time between new material. |

I like the Japanese system better
![]() Releasing singles before the album gives people a taste of what the album will be like, whereas the artists in America usually only release one single before the release of the album, & you don't really know if you'll like any other song on that album other than the lead single

Sales for albums are worse off in the Japanese system, but it's much more interesting from a fan's point of view. XD Constant new stuff throughout the year. :3
It builds more fans towards a respective artist rather than the album. I've found I've never loved an American artist as much as a Japanese artist. :]

I think both are retarded. Regardless of which gets released first you still waste money from getting the same songs.
But to the Original Poster: Come on dude..your on an Ayumi Hamasaki forum. You new the majority that replied was gonna say the Japanese system.

Well I can see I pretty much stand alone on this...but as much as I LOVE the Japanese music industry...I have to say that I prefer the American way of releasing music. I've noticed that a lot of Japanese singers will release a bunch of singles and then release an album but half the album is stuff we already heard. I mean the whole point of buying an album is to hear new material from an artist...in America singers usually release a single and then their album and progressively release more songs from it to promote more so that more people will buy it overtime. Idk, it just seems more logical to me
![]() And just to let you guys know, it's rare to find an actual American single (a cd with a couple songs on it). The songs they release are called 'singles' but it's not literally a single like the Japanese have with b-sides and stuff. Last edited by CHE.R.RY; 9th February 2008 at 08:26 PM. |

The Japanese system seems more logical to me... you release the singles so people will want to hear more on the album and already like the songs on it: so they have something to look forward to.
For the American way, why would I buy the album then buy the singles? It makes no sense to me. |

Japanese system. Though I don't actually buy singles anyway so it doesn't bother me, the American system seems weird. xD Why would I buy a bunch of singles already on an album?

^ I think you guys misunderstood what an American single is. Americans don't actually release 'singles' like Japanese do (which is like a cd itself with some other stuff on it). They release songs on the radio to promote the album and they're called 'singles' because they are individual songs that come from an album.
