It seemed like she just did the 12 single collection to boost her single count from 18 to 30. o_o

I think the 12 single collection was interesting. Even if she did do it to boost her singles from 18-30, she worked for it.

Comeback? She never left! So no need for a comeback... In terms of sales? Who knows? If it's a good single then it'll do well.

:/ If she was hot and talented, why did it take six years to get to this point? >>

Anyways, ~ new single excitement. I wonder what'll be the choice magazine shoot this summer!

We need to remember that the number 39 was crappily promoted. >>

Ayu singles in the past have been plagued with crap promotion and gotten crap sales even in her peak!

[forgiveness... ;_;! ! !]

I think many singers have it in them to shine, they just need some kind of lucky break...

I don't know if B'z's fans ever talk about comeback. B'z have been on the top for so many years, have they always been selling well? I have to admit that ayu's recent singles don't sell as well as the previous did, but that don't mean she'll never ever sell well. If ayu gets some really great songs, and good release day provided, why don't Japanese go and buy it? We're always hoping for her good sales. The fact is she needs great songs. So I don't think there is any so-called comeback for her. All we want is good sales. And of course I expect this single to make some changes.

Anywayz every time we get excited for the new single and fall disappointed for its sales I don't think that's bad. At least we're still hoping and expecting.

I think as long as an artist has fans, they're successful. :]

It really only comes to 'OMG THE END' when you have no one left cheering for you. :\

I don't think that songs popularity depends on promo
and the condition you have many fans doesn't really mean you are good enough singer

just ppl, when will you understand?!
every star has it's golden time, and it's not endless!
it's just ordinary life, you should've known that...
we just wish THE STAR to be forever and ever perfect

nobody will be forever BEST and POPULAR and GREAT
as time goes by, power goes by too...

maybe I am wrong...

I don't care. I just want great new songs and PVs.

And who cares if "Startin'/Born to be..." was badly promoted? It wouldn't make this single better in any sort. The songs aren't great. The PVs are her worst ones yet... Seriously. It also didn't sale much. Not because of the lack of promotion. It was just bad.

Also... Why more Kuu bashing? It seems like everytime there's a thread related to the sales of a single or album, someone HAVE to bring up Kuu. And someone else HAVE to bash on her. Funny how it's always the same people.

:\

I think the songs were "bad" because they were solely like.. 'commercial' songs. Like.. they were made to endorse something and Ayu was like 'agh what fits with this?!' x.x At least, that's what it seems like, since the Onimusha songs were created just for that purpose and the Born to Be.. was for the Olympics.

This time, it's just for Ayu. And hopefully, people are satisfied with them :]

well, ayu's popularity is slipping a little but she's till queen of J-pop. almost everyone who like j-pop has at least a few fav ayu's songs. and it's not really fair to compare her popularity with her old sales. the WHOLE WORLD entertainment industry had been going down.
and i kinda find kumi's 12th singles intersting, it do boast up japan sales and brought some attention to japan music. that's a good thing.

Lower sales are IMO caused by the three reasons:

1) There are more popular artists like Ayu than in the I am.. era. Kuu, Otsuka, Nakashima, Utada, Gackt, KAT-TUN.. people must decide whether to buy this or this album.

2) She's the queen for a long time. I think that some of her fans might be sick of getting her 40th single and having a full bookcase

3) mp3s. There can be a lot of people who really like Ayu but it's not worth for them to buy her album. Money. It's easy even for a 60 yrs old lady to download Ayu's MP3s.

It's not Ayu's mistake at all.
