Ladies Night and Beautiful Fighters. There is no message in the lyrics and the beat is annoying. I'm surprised Ayu sang these songs!!

I agree that 'Free & Easy' is a bit peculiar. I also think these songs are weird:

SIGNAL
P.S II
monochrome
ever free
SCAR
girlish
End of the World
Connected
NEVER EVER
still alone
a song is born
no more words
WE WISH
everywhere nowhere
Dolls
ourselves
forgiveness
Catcher in the Light
Humming 7/4
B&D
Ladies Night
In The Corner
alterna
Will
Not Yet
Born to be...
Beautiful Fighters
kiss o' kill
GUILTY
Marionette
Mirrocle World

Soo yeah, some of these songs were just strange to me because they were a lot different than Ayu's other works. Either that or the lyrics/melody of the song were mysterious or obscure.

That's exactly why I listed it .

EDIT: I almost forgot about the Nothing from Nothing min-album...the entire album is just O.o...especially 'Gut-it Pez' xD.

BTW, is the song supposed to have a teddy bear broken radio-ish sound or is that the quality of my mp3?
Er... they probably didn't bring crystals into the recording studio and drop them on the floor. But I'm sure the producer of that track would be glad to hear that his beat had that effect on your ears.

No, it's actually a pretty standard hip-hop drum loop, with a few effects on it to give it that sound. First it sounds like a band pass favoring the higher frequencies which makes it sound high-pitched but muffled to the ear. Then it sounds like there might be a bit of a flanger on it which gives it that rising and falling sound. A whole lot of Ayu songs use this effect on the beat (probably too many to list), and it has a really exciting effect on a piano ballad such as JEWEL, where such a beat is very unexpected.

My rip of JEWEL is crisp and clear, so as far as the crackling sound goes, I think you might have a bad file.

You see, everyone seems to think everywhere nowhere is out there, but it's really not. It's just a different sound for Ayu. It's got a somewhat conceptual arrangement, but it's not strange by any stretch of the imagination. I think what throws people off is that the verse is slightly dissonant in D natural minor, and the chorus is very bright and shifts to what sounds like Bb Major. Structurally, it is very standard.

Introduction
Verse 1a
Verse 1b
Chorus 1
Interlude
Verse 2a
Verse 2b
Chorus 2
Interlude
Bridge
Chorus 3
Chorus 4
Playoff

It's in practically perfect pop form. I think the arrangement is very exciting, especially the hyper fast bass line. I think Enrique would love playing this song! Bass lines tend to get a little boring and slow, but this one is very full of life.

So it's a cool song, but really not that weird.

I wouldn't really say they're weird... I just have to wonder about her emotional state when she wrote some of them, like Because of You.
