Do you think Ayumi has a strong voice?

I don't think it's that powerfull, it's just that she displays her emotions well into her music, now that's what, to me, makes her special. She does sing pretty well especially live while others don't. I love Yuna Ito live too she sounds really great, I love Crystal Kay but live she just sounds... meh not that great. Oh and Hikki she's really something too. BONNIE PINK does the trick as well.

i haven't heard an American singer reach her notes with that much clarity unless they sounded like they were screaming (as if it was their death cry, like those of Kelly Clarkson)... but remember, she's singing with her stomach there, not with her head like when you do those high notes in choir. that's why i considered that note in "Connected" high. she makes it sound effortless.

frankly speaking...to me,i prefer the vocal she used to have before(at least the era before STEP YOU)...now she just seems to enjoy using lots of energy and vibratos to sing with that make her vocal sounds powerful sometimes..but of course,together when in CDL was powerful to me!and some of the rock songs..

Ayu for me, has a voice all her own. It can be strong, or soft. She has a powerful voice when she needs to, but...sometimes, it doesn't last.

I'm still kind of, on the wall on whether or not I think her voice is more powerful now than it was...I mean, everything's a lot lower now and it's harder to hit some of those old notes...but she's still awesome...It's difficult to say lol...

i think it is how u define strong voice that matters. I think she definitely have a really special voice and sometimes really voniable as well...

And KOKIA is where!? (Guess she's not that powerful, she's actually trained, OH SNAP!) Like top guitarists, it's not only how great you are (cause everyone can be great xD), it's what's popular really =_= Anyways, Ayu's voice is quite powerful, I would consider her way above the power of an average pop star, and I have to admit that Secret was probably her strongest vocally (even though she took a slight break from her vibrato in that album T-T ), but her voice isn't so powerful. Friggin Ayaka man O_o where does THAT little girl's voice come from!? Oh and to top of my small rant, powerful voice doesn't always mean it's very good! Except for Chihiro Onitsuka, that girl has a BEAUTIFUL, BEAAAUUUTIFUL strong voice. (Infection = LOVE )

You took the words right out of my mouth . I also think it sort of depends on the type of song, and the time period as well lol. For instance, back in the A Song for XX-LOVEppears period, Ayu's voice was screechy and she could hit high notes, but her voice wasn't very powerful. But from songs like RAINBOW all the way to Secret, Ayu had a very strong and deeper voice and it was especially noticeable in songs like Real me, free & easy, Hanabi, Hanabi ~episode II~, Ourselves, Memorial Address, GAME, INSPIRE, Pride, etc. That's my take on it at least.

First off, your mom's awesome. My parents try to sing along to my music, only instead of the words, they sing what they "think" she's saying... "destroy all caucasions! death to westerners" ect ect...

Second, I do think Ayu has a strong voice. She doesn't always use it's strength, but it's definately there if she needs it.

she's not a superb singer, but she had her moments... and she has a very unique voice, that's for sure. I can't stand that squeaky 08/15 **** like YUI and many others anymore. ayu has at least developed. (besides, namie did too. kuu not really, but she had a strong voice from the beginning).
