^ i agree with you... those are the types of pictures ayumi should be doing.. but for the demographic and everything of this magazine she looks perfect.

Also.. does one magazine make an era? Shouldn;t she have at least 3 for before you decide if this is a good "era" or not?

The pupil on her right eye (or the eye contact) seems off to me. She looks gorgeous (what a terrible word), no doubt, but I really dislike it. Y U NO POSE WIT DUCKLIPS ANYMORE

ViVi is not that teen magazine. it's in that middle category, the models like Lena Fuji who's one of ViVi key models isn't a teen at all. Namie, for example, did ViVi in kind a good 'not old-not teen' style, so it's the fault of whoever planned the potosession
I agree about VOGUE. we also have ELLE, Sweet, Bea's Up, Scawaii, JELLY & many more. they aren't that teen!

I guess the look is to support 'party queen' theme, but I do not want an album booklet looking that cheap & unflattering

they aren't teen, I would call them "young adult magazine" or sth, it's mostly about fashion/cosmetics. (but for casual people, not like VOGUE/Harper's Bazar stuff) I am creeped out about the last pages of these magazines though, surgery agencies advertisements... But they are mostly in the Popteen/EGG (breast surgery, lips ><)

I would love Ayumi in VOGUE or Harper's Bazar ;[ her body is amazing for that stuff. Or in GLAMOROUS, I LOVE this magazine, very good style/touch (very classy shoots)

33 isn't "old". Gwen Stefani was 35 years old when she came out with songs like "Hollaback Girl" and "What You Waiting For?" and she was 37 when she sang "The Sweet Escape" and "Wind It Up". Ayu's age shouldn't define her or her style. I agree that if she were in her 40s, this cover might be pushing it, but she's not even in her mid-thirties yet!

totally agree, and remember, she's japanese... she will always look younger than western girls. and it's not like she's madonna and she is trying to be sexy and overphotoshoped in every shoot

(i am not trying to ofend madonna's fans but that's just my opinion) and ayu in real life have beautiful skin and body so the photoshop isn't really that visible etc

I just realized that those plaits aren't the part of the hair, but of the earrings O.o And I don't like the eye lashes, so unnatural. Everything else looks nice!

ViVi usually tends to have her more fun looks. If she does Sweet this season, it'll probably be more toned down since that magazine is directed at a more mature woman.

i'm not directing that at you i just see that mentioned here a lot... forgive me guys but did any of you saw a granny in a mini pink dresses, stilettoes and mini shorts, or wearing something like greek goddess? Clothes "of not the right size" were a trend and still is, and it's not the granny stuff, ask any granny, they will call you crazy.... i'm not trying to offend anyone but seriously guys google "granny" images and see what you'll find xD

Well, she's previously sported some very odd looks in ViVi. IIRC, in 2007 she did a plastic-outfit shoot with a top hat.

About the granny thing, it's weird but that style is kind of "in" at the moment with a lot of youths dressing like old women, haha.

The pupil looks off because the contact shifted in her eye.

I really hate those brown contacts. They are becoming popular all over Asia and I can't see what all the fuss is about. Between the contacts and her A brand eyelashes (what were you thinking, Ayu?) her eyes just look so scary.

But, as I said in another thread, I love how its like throwback Ayu style. I missed it.

I like change in style a lot, she looks like her fun, youthful days before it was all about glamour. Maybe we'll see her wearing jeans?! It would be amazing.

Still... there is something so off about this...
