@AyuWorld
Even if her kind of music isn't really my cup of tea, damn! That girl can sing! And what a gorgeous voice! And she makes it all looks so easy! I'm totally impressed! :000 @Tomoyo I love the way russian sounds in music *-* Tanya Bulanova interested me, I will check her out! I also found the arrangments from all the songs you linked to be all pretty interesting one way or another!^^ @Heavenly Among the pop music markets I gave a shot, French is by far the most unforgiving, even more than the japanese or american where you had 3 or 4 artists going strong and the other vanishing after making success. It always feel like after you got that one hit album in France, it's time to prepare for retirement xD @Miku Robyn is actually pretty well known around here among people who listen to pop music! I'm under the impression that since the late-2000's early-2010's this women produced pop music kind of became a genre of it's own, and a lot of artists who only had appeal on their own country started getting some international following thanks to internet. --- Here in Brazil right now Anitta is at her peak, having 2 videos with over 100 million views and another 3 that are almost there. I don't think we have anyone else with that numbers. She is also starting to try a international career re-recording songs in English and Spanish. Anitta's success lead to another funk carioca (a genre that has mostly an indie distribution) acts getting into major labels to get a pop package, and Ludmilla is the biggest one: And as a consequence, Valesca Popozuda, most likely the funk carioca singer with the longer ongoing stable career, to reproduce this "pop package" while maintaining her indie status, and getting big mainstream hits as a consequence: Indie rap musician Karol Conka is also getting the pop package treatment and is on the verge on making it into the mainstream: And Marisa Monte, who is around since the end of the 80's and still dominates the more "high class" pop music around here. She has a status similar to Hikki or Shiina Ringo: |

Hmmm it's hard to find huge pop stars here in Spain, as it's already pointed out. Dunno why really, I guess our industry is a joke compared to other countries. That being said, we do have some artists out there. I'd like to contribute with a few of them, even if they can't really be labeled as "pop stars" per se.

Speaking of Russia, I doubt it has a diva similar to Ayu or Madonna.
But I'd mention Polina Gagarina. She's a good singer and she even composes her own music. She doesn't release that much music unfortunately. She's only 30 years old, she's been active for 14 years, but she has only 3 albums. She represented Russia at Eurovision 2015. I'd love her to be more active.
