Camo will be a full project. No one really knows what it's about, but it's supposed to show different sides of BoA. I'm pretty sure a mini will be released at some point, but I doubt they will include Spring Rain since it was a Station release and generally those are released in the end of the year as a part of a collection.

From what I remember, those feather were really expensive and from some type that you just can't really order from a store and get it to you super fast. Some fan got it and posted online, so that's why she asked back because she needed it to continue the promotional cycle of the single.

I think this comes down to a few things: Only One was BoA's first all-kill release. The single is BoA's highest selling Korean single. The album is now BoA's highest selling Korean album ever. Between the singles and the album, BoA tacked on more than 4 million sales to her career tally. KML's tracks were less diverse, very different from the rest of BoA's fifteen albums, and was released on the heels of Only One. I think it's also important to note that KML, like IDENTITY, was executive produced by BoA. And both albums have similar faults -- namely, that BoA is often working with Soo-man Lee, one of the most talented executives in the global music industry, so when she releases an album like KML after an album like Only One and HURRICANE VENUS, it's almost a little too obvious that it's not "as good" (best phrase I can think of) as the other albums. Just remember that IDENTITY really tanked her career in Japan. So, CAMO will have to gain back whatever ground was lost by KML coming out when it did. I don't think people would have felt so sour about KML if it wasn't the album released after Only One, and if it wasn't BoA's first K-Pop release in any context in almost three years.

It reminds me of how things went down when 2NE1 released CRUSH. Everyone was excited for the first week or two, but all the announcements that were made between 2011 and 2014 for a new mini or full album was still fresh in everyone's minds. We all really love 2NE1, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to look forward to their releases anymore. Too many got pushed back or scrapped or completely changed at the last minute. I hope that CAMO is BoA returning to a more proactive presence in K-Pop, but we'll have to wait and see.

CAMO is BoA to the core. It's probably the most authentic 'BoA' track and MV we've had from her since HURRICANE VENUS. I like the diversity in BoA's career, but people tend to appreciate that diversity in small bites. So, maybe a couple softer EDM songs on an album, rather than a completely different genre for the whole record. Diversity is a good thing, but I'd rather BoA transition into it step by step rather than kind of shedding what she's known for and pushing out projects that sound completely different from what we kind of expected.

Seriously? lolz

to be honest I expected more from the MV as well, it's filled with a bunch of cheap effects, it would have been better if she just danced. As for the song, the refrain and bridge are too weak, that great beat is wasted af :/

On a random BoA note, when she releases her next Japanese album, I hope she includes Lookbook. I really enjoyed it from the preview.

God, IDENTITY was awful. I wanted so bad to love it since BoA had a good hand in making it (was it her first album to produce music for? Can't remember.) but just as a whole the entire thing was just.... ugh. It was bad. Bump Bump! is still a lot of fun but the rest of the album just felt so half-done. It made me wonder what direction she was going with her music.

Then of course she slapped me in the face with the release of Hurricane Venus that same year and I stopped questioning things and just let her do her thing.

I'd absolutely love to see BoA share executive production with her existing team. I just think that KML and IDENTITY are proof that she hasn't developed the skills to do it on her own. That said, I want to see BoA on the grind again. I loved that she came back to Japan and started releasing singles more frequently for awhile, but I'd really like to see her keep that up.

And to be honest, I think it's way past time that she start bringing her K Pop and J Pop sounds together. I'd really like BoA to do a Shakira or Laura Pausini with her albums, recording each album in both languages. I think it would be album extremely successful project for her.

^I agree and at the same time I disagree. xD As a music lover, I wish she'd involve a team because we'd get the same songs that she wants to release just with a bit more depth/flair/atmosphere/sound/whatever you want to call it--but as her fan I really, really enjoy watching her and listening to her progress on her own. Like I said, IDENTITY was awful. But Only One (the song) was great. Kiss My Lips was a bit bland but other songs in the album rose it up. Besides, I think she really enjoys making music and after being in this industry so long I'm sure she got tired of just being handed a song and having to perform it. It's probably a lot more fun for her to watch something she made from scratch come to life on the stage.

So, I guess I'm torn in the whole Producer BoA project. She just needs to continue to practice. Though I do agree 100% that she needs to infuse her Kpop and Jpop sounds. They're so different and though that is definitely not a bad thing, it's just that one works so well for her and the other doesn't. I don't know if it's cause she seems to have more freedom to do what she wants in Korea or what, but her Jpop nowadays (with the exception of Lookbook, that I just freaking loved) seems to be so stagnant and stale.

Omg I also didn't know IDENTITY was unpopular with fans! O_O I guess I never payed attention to what other fans have said about some of her songs/albums, so it's interesting to read opinions! I love IDENTITY so much! The End And.. is one of my favorite BoA songs, and I love Neko Love. I felt like that album was one of her most cohesive albums that she has ever released. It can be listened to from start to finish.

Off topic, but I'm curious to know what anyone thinks of the song Discovery? I think it's one my favorite songs by her. I just find it so pretty. *_*

I also agree with her Japanese sound sounding stale now compared to her Korean music! It's so weird because it used to be the opposite for me.

I know Identity was a flop in sales but for me it's my favorite album of hers.

But I always thought the timing was bad. She had just finished releasing & promoting her album in the US, she was exhausted and homesick. During promotion for Identity she always looked kind of tired.

Anyways, "The end... and" is also one of favorite songs.

There are many people that love KML and the reviews online are pretty positive so it's laughable to read you're saying the albums are PROOF that she's not skilled enough hahahaha

Well, she had very little to do with the production and lyrics of HURRICANE VENUS.

Would you be a darling to explain how one of them works very well and the other doesn't? I think both are really good.

She has a Utada Hikaru status in Korea and her discography in Japan is pretty solid. After Ayumi, she's the only artist who had six consecutive albums on No. 1 in Oricon, not mentioning her songs are really nice.

we hate when we have to agree with ahkta-chan, but the day has come and he is right: KML had so many good reviews at the time lol

I, personally, love IDENTITY. But I gotta agree that the album sounds rushed and half-done and that's a shame. BoA probably had to release it rushed because of contract and that's it. the instrumentals, her vocals, everything sound half-done and I don't think it was on purpose. still, I really love it haha the same with KML, though it's really well done imho. the only thing I'd change in it is KML's chorus (I think it's too "empty") and NEVER LET HER RECORD WHO ARE YOU. I don't even listen to this song, gosh, worst song ever. but KML album tracks are gems. I think the only "meh" is Blah. Clockwork and Shattered are both of my favorite BoA songs EVER <3

anyway, I think CAMO is amazing and I can't stop listening to it and the MV is amazing. I'm just sad that her dance routine is underused ("undershown"? uhauha), but she's posting some videos on her instagram account that are of some kind of "dance version" (just btc captures, really), so my expectations are high for a dance version of CAMO.

someone sad "cheap effects" and I heavily disagree: the effects are pure art imho haha I can't stop looking at those collage-like scenes <3 really, I'm amazed. and that facial recognition thing is just as beautiful. if there's anything CAMO isn't, that thing is: cheap. haha

Now there's a big problem with her videos: so many times she has awesome choreography that doesn't get enough screentime or their well-deserved dance version MVs.

Yes, I am still bitter that the "Lookbook" MV never got a dance version. I'll never get over it.

IDENTITY is actually the only album I ever really cared about from her discography. I always loved her voice and here and there was a song I fell in love with, but overall I think her albums are boring and uncreative as hell. IDENTITY on the other hand is way more unique and creative than everything she's done before and after its release.

^ Really? I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that. I have to admit this is one of the only forums I've seen where people actually liked IDENTITY. I've not met one person IRL and hardly anyone online that had anything nice to say about it. I mean, I still don't like it, but I'm really liking others standing up for it. I wish I could be one of those people but I just can't. I do like possibility and bump bump but can't say much more about the rest. I used to like THE END soshite and.... but I grew out of it, I suppose.

I also love Discovery. Valenti was the first jpop album I bought and when I got it I listened to it pretty much every. single. day. for three months and I used to wait until Discovery ended, click the rewind, and listen to it again before finally moving on. Great song.

as long as the live version is basically a dance version (like the lookbook at her nowness live), I really don't mind. Hopefully, CAMO live will be recorded and posted soon. But I won't hate a dance version release as well

About IDENTITY... in BoAjjang there's a lot of people who liked that album haha I'm one of them, for sure.

And about DISCOVERY <3 I love this song. I first listened to it in korean and I think korean does suit it better, but I love both versions. It was one of those songs you instantly love and I'd be extremely happy if she did an album with songs sounding like DISCOVERY <3 it'd be kinda experimental, though... that song is totally not radio friendly haha

I feel like IDENTITY showed a much maturer side of BoA. It was very laid back compared to previous releases. It's one of my favorite albums by her, because it's very coehesive. Each track flowed into the next song nicely. Sometimes I feel like her albums don't flow as good as they could have (MIT comes to mind).

Valenti is her best album hands down! That album is perfect to me, and it will always hold a special place as it's also one of the first Jpop albums I bought!

I also remember IDENTITY being a fave amongst BoAjjang members! Is the BoAjjang forums no longer around? I know the Facebook page is still active, but I can no longer find the forum.

forums.boajjang.com

I'm there on a daily basis even though there are like.. 10 of us and there are days no one says anything lol but whenever she releases something, it gets kinda busy. I love it, it holds a special place in my heart. especially with so many people around, there are only true worshiping fans there now haha

btw, VALENTI is a jpop album lol
