That's not too bad. But, it shows that you're not the big fan of Ayu. The situation that you had is similar to mine. I only will buy her compilations, albums and DVD of CDL. It's because, I don't have much money to buy all sort of things. But, I'll not support other artist like I support Ayu.

It's okay to be not-so-devoted to the artist(s) you adore, but it's also okay to purchase other artists' stuffs if you really like them too, whether or not that artists are your favorite.
And no, I won't look down on you. We know (& shouldn't be pretending we don't) that all of us have our right to choose & buy what we want. Especially if we got cash.

for someone who support 32 artistes inclusive of ayumi , there's no way that I can buy & complete every single discography of theirs
 there're other means of supporting ayumi even if you're unable to buy her material for whatever reason/s so don't let this affect you so much

I say that the person that said that to you is the real bad Ayu fan! It doesn't mean to buy her stuff!!! You are an Ayu fan if you like her music... Of course, it's better for her that you buy her CD's but only if you want to and if you can offord it
Just relax!btw, what if you can't order something? I ordered one album over my friend and I think that doesn't make me a bad Ayu fan

i'm a hardcore DIGITAL ayu fan. i mean, i don't buy all of her merchandise, DVDs, CDs, and stuff... i keep up with news of her and her releases and buy her studio albums only. i bought a few concert dvds. but as for the rest, i download them.
its because my parents don't support my likings (so they never cared to buy me ayu stuff which would've been the best gifts for occasions), i live in the US which don't have her stuff, plus, i don't have money to buy all of her stuff. so, i don't consider not having all her stuff a bad ayu fan. you can still be hardcore and not have everything ayu. ayu is the only international artist i actually buy albums of and such. she's the only one i'd go that far (i'm from US) to have some stuff of her. and just b/c i or you or someone doesn't buy all her stuff doesn't mean you're not supporting her. its just that, you don't feel its necessary when you're on a tight budget. as long as you listen to her, that's enough. and that friend of yours, if she still is, needs to stretch her mentality and horizon a bit wider. i must say, people can be soooooooooooooooooooooooo weird and... incomprehensibly freakish. i mean, my boyfriends considers the fact that i listen to her most and keep up with her releases the most of all artists... or perhaps her alone, is enough to make me an Ayu freak... and i deny it b/c... i say "it's not like i put myself in debt just to buy all of her stuff"  but yea, listening to someone is enough most times.

According to this girl, I can actually estimate how many real ayu fans are there in the world!
LOL ayu can only have 300,000 real fans.....that is, if all of them actually bought all the 300,000 limited single releases  If not, she has much less "real" fans I own Daybreak, so she actually has <300,000

she called you a bad ayu-fan???? Then she's a bad girl!!!! Even though I'm a devoted ayu fan I can't promise that I'll buy all ayu merchandise.. I support ayu because of music so my priority is only her cds particularly Albums.. I only buy rare singles or songs not included in an album. I'm not rich but I try my best to buy authentic Cds to support...I want to be practical...
Back to topic, she's nuts!heheh.. Don't mind her!!!

You know man, being a fan is a choice, in which two people are gaining something, the artist, and you. You are a fan for a convenience, since being it brings you a significant benefit
(enjoying the music and lyrics of an artist, and even its dvd's and merchandise in some cases) being a fan of someone has to be something fun, not a burden. What your friend said and do must be her choice, not yours. If you can't afford all her discography or just simply don't wanna get it all, it's ok, it's your decision, not hers. I mean, if you consider urself a fan i think you must show a bit of loyalty trying to get at least one portion of her material, but that doesn't mean you MUST have everything. That's just plain ridiculous. Personally, most of the material i have from her is from I-tunes. they've got a big quantity of her stuff (that's where i get her EP's like startin'/born to be/ teens and cd singles like dearest), but sometimes i have purchased her cd's through the internet, and in some few cases, honestly, i've got some material from the net, like the above& beyond remixes from M, and Ayu-mix-4 acoustic orchestra version. If she ever tries again to force you to be like her, u should say, **** you! well... may be not exactly that  , but let her know you will do as you wanna do, since its your decision

It doesn't make you a bad fan at all. When I first discovered Japanese music, I couldn't afford it. I only got my first Ayu album for Christmas about 6 months after I stumbled across her music. At this moment, I'm able to purchase her new releases, but I only do so if I like them. For instance, I didn't buy the NEXT LEVEL Arena tour DVD, because I just didn't enjoy it that much, but it doesn't make me a less "important" fan, or a bad fan for that matter. I pre-ordered Love Songs, even though I bought her most recent singles. Buying someone's music doesn't make you a fan. Listening to it is the main factor. I'm sure there are people who really struggle through life, and food/rent etc always come first. How can you tell them that they're not a real fan? Maybe Ayu's music had a bigger impact on their lives than it did on those who buy everything she puts out.

This crazy girl who told you 'You are a bad Ayu-fan' is for me the 'bad fan'. If I were I famous singer I would hate it to be thankful to such a fanatic girl only because she buys everything I release. I think we should feel pity for such fanatics because they search for something to fill their lifes. (But of course this goes not in general to people who buy everything from an artist. Of course you can buy everything by an artist because you like it. It's not that buying a lot of an artists stuff makes you a fanatic fan who hates all others.)
