^nah, I think it's more of a "I need to do this" sort of thing. Like, recently she's just having fun, and times haven't really been calling for an emotional, personal song. Or is that what you're saying?

I hate to say this but to me it seems like it was partly (perhaps not for her first compositions, but when they noticed that they were ok) AVEX saying "you have to do it). Remember this was around the time she was in heavy competition with Utada and that she still wasen't in complete control of her career (A BEST).
