i think a lot of rock groups are overrated.
nickleback needs to crawl into a whole and die. they can take acdc with them too. i also think leona lewis is not all she's hyped up to be. i think she does have a great voice, with impressive range and all that. but i just HATE the way she sings. its just too much. and yeah, most of the pop people mentioned are overrated too. rihanna cant sing, but has a good image and some catchy tunes. justin timberlake bores me to tears. madonna is kind of annoying at times, but i like how her albums are very thorough and solid. coldplay is soooo self indulgent. ~_~ just go away and sing to yourself already. we wont miss you.

Any boybands any girl bands also Koda Kumi = can't believe someone said she sings as good as Mariah and most of her music bores me to death (I like Butterfly and Taboo a lot... and Cutie Honey too... but it's a cover and I knew the song long before) Mika Nakashima = she looks like someone with cancer... her singing have no emotion and she is a terrible singing live (but you can finally feel the emotion when she feels pain trying to reach the high notes) Aiko Western: Rihanna = Can't sing, can't dance, low charisma... why is she famous at all? Kate Perry = Can't sing, can't dance, low charisma... why is she famous at all?² Hilary Duff = Can't sing, can't dance, low charisma... why is she famous at all?³ Christina Aguilera = Yeah, she is an amazing singer... but her music is so.... meh... Mariah Carrey = Don't know... maybe I just don't like her personality (and her music) And I agree that Madonna, U2, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, etc aren't very overrated cause they influenced almost all pop acts we have today at some level... Even if I don't like The Beatles....

I've been thinking for a while that...omg all I hear on the radio these days in Rhianna...
I totally missed her becoming so popular. But I think her voice is unique...so that's why they chose to market her. But anyway...at the thread at TN, I recently expressed that I felt Namie Amuro was overrated. I LOVE LOVE LOVE her new stuff. But how anyone can enjoy her stuff pre-STYLE...is beyond me. And she was HUGE... so I guess music was just that different back then...and I'm just not into it or something...

I never understand how people can say "This list of singers cant sing" ... its always strange to me lol ~! I mean like maybe you don't like their voice or something but they're a singer for a reason right? I dunno just my opinion XD even I say some singers cant sing sometimes out of impulse but i guess in the end I know that they can outsing me anyday : P lol! (of course excluding certain people who use money to get where they are)
overrated .. I'd have to say: Koda Kumi: I don't see anything special about her or her music Rihanna: All of her singles from Good Girl Gone Bad sound the same to me and yet they all did well Miley Cyrus: Nothing special, infact I really dislike her voice and I think she's ugly... XD Akon: Another singer who's voice and songs I find annoying 50 Cent : I dislike his rap, and his personality (list of other rappers that fall under the same category because their raps are all the same) Maki Goto : I just felt that MM made her seem so much better than she is Simple Plan : I dislike their songs maybe that was due to an influence from my friend and her choice of "emo" songs lol Justin Timberlake : I still don't like sexyback... and the more songs i hear from him the more similar they seem to get XD Thats all I can remember for now XD

If the singer keeps singing without any coaching, he/she can damage his/her voice for good... Ayu lost her voice past year because of this at AT08, remember? ^^

Of course there are people with bad vocals but I think most singers have good vocals and thats why they're singing. We just don't appreciate some vocalists because we don't like the sound of their voice.

Hmm among non Asian people I think alan is way too over-rated, and Japanese Visual Kei bands, I can't seem to get a good idea why many girls (out side of Asia of course) love them that much, they dress like women with extremely bad taste and their music is quite generic and stupid, well I guess the fact that most of their fans are younger than 15 explains a lot xD
As for Japan, I think that ayaka is way too over-rated, she has an amazing voice, her songs are good at times, but her music is mostly plain and boring pop. EXILE - way too generic for me to handle, their songs contain way too many random english lines which barely make sense. KAT-TUN - sure they do have a few catchy songs, but I don't really see why people like them, they don't even look good. aiko - I have nothing against her, but she is among people I find boring. I personally find Hikaru over-rated as well sometimes, but since I might get in trouble for saying why, I'll leave it at that. As for the non Asian music scene, I have no comment xD

^Ah well, I respect that others don't like them and all, I just wish people would realize that not just teenage girls like them. I became a fan of VK when Dir en grey was still visual, so I'm used to the old-school aspect of VK. I also like the eroguro kei bands like MUCC, Merry and cali≠gari.

I believe that music (....not the music just for sheer enjoyment <3 cuz that's nice.) is worth it if either the singer has an amazing voice, there are just captivating lyrics (especially if the singer writes the songs), or if the actual music is just so creative an out of the ordinary that you can't hepl but be amazed.
everyone else......I think those people are overrated. Hannah Montana for instance, she has an okay voice but...it's just okay (I personally like it but....her range sucks. It's like she sings the same 4 notes all the time), people are bending over backwards just to buy a lunchbox with her face on it at Target(r)....that's ridiculous

Muse = I listened to their BHAR album and the only track I liked was "Supermassive Black Hole".. I don't know why but I don't find their music that special. Personal opinion kay?
Ken Hirai = I find his songs sound all the same.. they're all bland ballads (with exceptions like POP STAR, Kimi wa Su.te.ki,...) and I don't like his voice

Their fangirls go crazy for them...and none of their songs are even good. XD I would understand if they had a one-hit wonder, but I don't think they have... Also, McFly don't do anything for me. XD

Music wise:
Beyonce Knowles: She has to have the most overwought, repetitive, uninspiring and overall ANNOYING discography on the face of this planet. Every time I hear Single Ladies I want to stab my ears out. I don't get why people haven't realized yet that she's been releasing the same lead single over and over again off of each album. Kanye West: Besides the fact that he's a douchebag, I can't fathom what's the big deal over his music. It's nothing special or out of the ordinary. Coldplay: Dull, dull, dull. Not a song I've heard by them hasn't made me near comatose by the end. 2NE1: I don't get the current obsession over these girls. They have like one song I can think of that doesn't get extremely annoying after the first listen. They're talented but their music is just ugh. DBSK, ARASHI, SUPER JUNIORS, most Asian boybands in general: It's even worse than the boyband craze that used to infest the West  even sadder is the fact some Western fangirls actually believe there's this huge "difference" between them. I just don't get it.  Talent wise: Christina Aguilera: Her voice has never sound even remotely good to me. When ever she opens her mouth, all I hear is gurgling and screaming not these "amazing vocals" everyone keeps fawning over. At least her sales these days do tend to reflect on her recycled and mediocre music. Utada Hikaru: Hikki's great and all and has a really pretty voice... but in all honestly, I've heard better Asian singers. Her vocal technique isn't very good and her live vocals tend to be off.
