It's nice to hear her experimenting, the uplifting ballad deal can only last you so long >.>

Yeah, I'd hate for her to get stuck in that pretty-ballad rut.

I wouldn't mind a ballad if she'd do a sorrowful one for a change, but if it was another uplifting one... x_X... But, I'm glad to hear that Kaze no Tegami will be something different

So true! Sad ballads are so much better than up-lifting ones.

I'd really want to see how she'd do a sorrowful ballad, I'd want it to have a really powerful climax!

^Ashita e no Sanka, Hitotsu and Natsukashii Mirai are all upbeat ballads.

I would definitely put "Ashita e Sanka" in the melancholy category, though, IMO. Although it's not particularly sad, I agree.

^A song entitled "A hymn for tomorrow" can't be sad lol. From what I gathered (read: think I understand) in Hitotsu, it was pretty uplifting too, and Natsukashii Mirai almost hurt it was so uplifting >.>...

I think it can, and it doesn't sound happy at all to me. The lyrics aren't particularly perky either, but I guess people hear different things.

Well, I agree it's not really happy, but it's far from being a sad song

I actually think it is quite sad, especially the last two lines.

声なき声する 慟哭を carved into the earth is the crying of the twin voices その小さな手には 銀色のおけ くみ入れても こぼれおちてく while filling the silver bucket with these small hands, the water keeps spilling こんな成熟した 正しい世界で 愛を告げる 季節もないのなら in such a mature and righteous world there is no season to speak of love That screams sad to me. ![]() And I don't want her to fall into the ballad slump either (*cough*YUNA*cough*) so it's good that she's experimenting. Although she is really good at ballad-type songs. |

Musically it doesn't seem all too sorrowful to me =/ Maybe that's what's throwing me off

Ah yeah, the music doesn't sound too sorrowful at all, I understand what you mean. The melody actually sounds a bit hopeful, in my opinion.

Yeah, that's why I'm being thrown off, plus I never read the lyrics ^^;; It's the sound, the lyrics she can do what she wants with, but I don't think she should do another song with that hopeful/uplifting melody for a while
