I'm not buying all versions even though I would like to but I buy one version to support Ayu because she is my all time favourite artist. I buy a lot of other things from other artists too but they are my favourite artists so I will always try to support them. CD buying is my (expensive) hobby and I love it!! Also I like MOON, covers are growing on me and in the end Ayu rarely disappoints me. Actually I don't get disappointed easily with artists I love, so I guess I'm just lucky!

How's digital downloading a waste of money?

Of course you can download it for free, but that doesn't help support Ayu, and isn't that what it's all about in the first place? The only physical releases I have of Ayu are A Best 2 White and Black, and the rest I've bought on iTunes and Musico.jp. At least that goes to Ayu..

And in any case the price for a song or two isn't that much, compared to whatever hundred dollars people spend buying every single version of a single, so I don't see how a mere couple of dollars for a single's a-sides could be a waste of money.

You're right.
I guess some people just don't care that much about owing the physical releases.

For me though, I walk into my bedroom and look at my ayu shelf, and it takes my breath away! lol

Seriously though, I wish digital downloads counted toward Oricon... it's so stupid. smh

Don't get me wrong, I think it's very honorable for people like you to spend so much on helping her get higher on the charts, but if people don't support her that way, they should however they can, and I think, imho, that the least people can do is to support her digitally.

I was debating it, but since it is a special release, I'll be getting a physical copy of MOON/blossom, and hopefully #49 and #50 too.

That's the spirit! Surely one of the CD-only versions is sufficient.
If only CDJ had a free shipping option like amazon LOL

Yes, I've come across some people like that and just couldn't believe it.

With me, it's like even if I buy like an album off of amazon or Itunes I still don't feel like I actually own it. Because it's just a digital file floating off in cyberspace that can be deleted with a click of a button. Physical CD's are just more stable and reliable to me, but then again I tend to be very delicate and careful with stuff like that (especially J-pop CD's since they're so much more expensive!) so they last me a long time. I like feeling the CD in my hand, browsing through the booklet and admiring the CD art. Admittedly, most of my library is downloaded files right now but I'm really looking forward to the day I actually *own* these albums and songs. Ayu is my first priority right now though.

for me I'd buy a physical release over a digital release any day. i'm not going to spend money on a digital song when i can just download it on the internet for free. If I buy any music, i want the bang for my buck. the physical cd, the booklet, the pictures, the jewel case, the extras it comes with, the dvd, etc. the stuff you can't get from itunes. I feel like I'm just not really getting what I pay for when i get something off of itunes. and as stupid as it sounds, I love buying physical cds from asia cause it makes me feel closer to the country and the artist. to actually be able to physically grasp something that came from china, or japan, or korea makes me feel that much closer to the artist and the country they're from. it's so cool to be able to tangibly hold something an artist released, especially when I don't have to money to go to that country and this is the closest I can get to japan or korea or where ever the cd came from.

but having money issues, or really just personal preferences, I can see why someone would rather buy digitally as to physically.

I feel the same way as most about owning physical releases <3 For example, my mom kinda dumps her CDs in a bag when she wants to take them somewhere, but I wrap mine up in my Ayumi towel so they won't get scratched or broken Same with my magazines & photobooks~ I treat them with utmost care My brother thinks I'm dumb for doing this, but I reli wanna protect my stuff <3
Plus, owning physical releases makes me feel like, "Hey, I bought this and now it's here...I can have this forever!" It makes it more special to me than iTunes, although I am quite sad about my collection being as small as it is~ Which just gives me more reason to buy b/M!!

@StrawbariSnowAyumi: Sorry to hear that. I use to have to scrounge up money myself and then ask my mom to put it on her card to buy stuff. But trust me, that kind of stuff will make you even more appreciative when you're finally making your own money and have a card and can buy the stuff you really want. I hope it happens for you soon.

This is especially true for me. If it's like one song for a buck and I really want to support that artist then I'll do that but a whole single/album? Nahhh.

lol that's not stupid at all. I felt that so strongly when I bought my first Asian album (I believe it was either Tommy Airline or MY STORY?). I just had a bit of culture shock like "omg, I'm actually looking at a Japanese CD with kanji that I can't read!" lol I still feel that way even years later.
