Yep. Just put it at the end or beginning of your messages. But you can't just type #ayu you have to type something else in the tweet. A lot of people have been using song lyrics so you can do that.

Ahh it's slowed down! Is there nobody awake right now? lol at least everyone in america is probably asleep right now... what about the non-american ayu fans on twitter?!

I tried to tell people about this event on realayu as well, since people from HK have a public holiday today and all. Don't think anyone started helping though. :S
