In odd way, this song slightly reminds me of a mix of Don't Look Back & ever free, only not as good as those two songs. I'm starting to like it more & more with each listen...it probably is the most unique & artistic song on FIVE, but it's not my favorite. I hate the way it sounds like Ayu is screeching in the beginning of the chorus

Guys, the song's name is NOT BRILLIANTE, so get rid of that "I". lol
I am loving the song, and think that Bubbly's interpretation is pretty good. Even if it's not accurate, it definitely seems like it is. The epic-ness of the song is so great, and wish she could keep making awesome songs like this. I have liked a few songs since "HEAVEN", but nothing as much as this. Go Ayu!!!!!!

After watching this song PV, I do not get it. Why does ayu die and suffer pain?
Why do guys have to take showers with black underwear but not naked?

I myself, LOVED the PV and the song. I was watching the PV when my boyfriend asked me what I was watching and he came over to watch it with me and not even a minute or so into it, he's like "Yeah, ok, she just lost me." lol

i don't hate the song but based on most people's reactions i set my expectations a little too high. really love the part at 3:55 when the orchestra comes in |

The one I choose to listen to the most. Not a HUGE fan of the chanting but I also don't like the little techno sound during the bridge. It totally does not fit the dramatic strings there. Shoulda saved it for another song.

I hated it at first, it seemed like a let down when she started singing. xD I was expecting a harder hitting sound. I do like it a lot now though after a few listens, definitely my favorite on FIVE now.

BRILLANTE! I restores my confidence in Ayu to still do weird and quirky things with her music! I think that's the side of her that we all like a lot better!

I am ver sorry if I am hurting anyone's feelings with this, but I'd like to have my "freedom of speech":
This is one of the worst things ever. And not just in music. The arrangement didn't fit my taste at all. The PV was so tacky and terrible I felt a part of me died. I felt the same way the time I saw Lady Dynamite PV. The only good thing was the lyrics. And the fact that it ended eventually. But you can't please everyone, so I'll accept it ![]() Let me just make one thing clear before people start judging (I read the first post so...): Just because I have a different opinion doesn't make me close minded. |

I thought more about the PV and wasn't Ayu actually portrayed as some Goddess? I mean the throne and her arabian-smth outfit and Timmy like this servant witch or smth
and like she was there with half-naked-men-fighters, the victory [Ayu] which they all aimed for and then she walking with men with champion belts side by side, like she's really the victory of Goddess. and then she was on the throne and they all called for her, called for her and then she got to them but then somehow the men started to get away from her and leaving her, right? oh I already have 2 interpretations of the PV ![]() Quote:
I agree about the arrangement. it wasn't done properly.the song is beautiful in lyrics and just the epic feel it gives, but really the arrangement sucked at the parts of chorus especially and slightly at the end. I agree about the tacky PV feel = Lady Dynamite though. much agree. Last edited by ayu_ready?; 28th August 2011 at 07:12 PM. |

Ok I found some stuff on Wikipedia lol. Take it with a grain of salt, it's all speculation.
Since ayu is using an Egyptian looking lady, our first thoughts are Cleopatra. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleopatra_VII This part is interesting 'For she was a woman of surpassing beauty, and at that time, when she was in the prime of her youth, she was most striking; she also possessed a most charming voice and knowledge of how to make herself agreeable to every one. Being brilliant to look upon and to listen to, with the power to subjugate every one, even a love-sated man already past his prime, she thought that it would be in keeping with her role to meet Caesar, and she reposed in her beauty all her claims to the throne.' It says she believed she was the goddess Isis who represents Motherhood, Magic, and Fertility. Cleopatra committed suicide by being bitten by an asp (an Egyptian cobra) which is Cleopatra's tried and true method of "painless executions" where you get sleepy and paralyses occurs starting at the eyes. This part really fit in with the pv in a loose interpretation: 'Plutarch, writing about 130 years after the event, reports that Octavian succeeded in capturing Cleopatra in her mausoleum after the death of Antony. He ordered his freedman Epaphroditus to guard her to prevent her from committing suicide, because he allegedly wanted to present her in his triumph. But Cleopatra was able to deceive Epaphroditus and kill herself nevertheless. Plutarch states that she was found dead, her handmaiden Iras dying at her feet, and another handmaiden, Charmion, adjusting her crown before she herself fell. He then goes on to state that an asp was concealed in a basket of figs that was brought to her by a rustic, and, finding it after eating a few figs, she held out her arm for it to bite. Octavian's triumphal march back in Rome, an effigy of Cleopatra that had an asp clinging to it was part of the parade.' You see how Cleopatra's beauty and glory were still exploited even after her death? And that Plutarch guy seems very "Timmy" lol Anyways, this is just from my internet detective work, so don't take it too seriously, but do read the wiki article to get the whole story. |

It's probably very close to what they had in mind for the video.
I doubt that BRILLANTE was created 'just for the heck of it' much like what Lady Dynamite was.
