I really really think she should drop the god darn english. It sounds like mumbling and it's so annoying! I always preferred Japanese anyways. The stuff doesn't sound bad, though i wouldn't say i am very impressed. It's really western. I'd rather have all that party/getting a guy stuff in Japanese, that way i can ignore the lyrics and just listen to the music. I don't think it actually suits her.. The only song that really got to me from the first listen when we got the CM/TV spot for the album was Photogenic. And i still find it the best song from what i've heard.
And that bloody What I Did For Love. I already hate that song with great passion, because they play it at work at least 10/20 times a day, and i find it extremely boring and uninspired that hearing Namie doing a "cover" of it......it's like the worst thing ever. lol

^^ I heard some japanese between the english in a song, the japanese isn't written in the video that's why you might have missed it.

EDIT : It was in Golden Touch

Now that i've listened to the previews again, i like the songs more, they sound nice, but damn i'm shocked at how uninspired some of her lyrics are "everybody say oh oh oh oh, yeah yeah yeah", it's too bad because i really like how Scream sounds. Or that song when she's repeating "Round Round Round", we already had Go Round for that thank you

Ai snatched that title the fuck out of Namie tbh.

This album is just... no?
Namie, drop the english already. For God's sake.
The ballads are boring as always. Lyrics of the 13th track seem a ripoff of heartplace (with that +deadtouch that only queen amuro can put into her songs)

Second half of the album is better than the first as some of you have said but still fails to impress me. I only liked OH a bit more.

I might not have payed too much attention tho, the depth of the lyrics must have distracted me. Fashionista is a life changer, with those lyrics. Deep as fuck. yeah, sorry.

As much as I love so of the music, she should just drop her English. I've been having problems with her singing full English songs since Uncontrolled. Back then I was afraid that she will never stop singing in English for future releases even for just one song. And boy yes she does, a whole album of it.

This morning I have the preview downloaded and now I'm listen the cd burn that I made and all I have to say is OH MY GOD her best album EVEEEER *_* have much variety of sounds. The bad thing is maybe some songs sound too noisy, and I miss japanese lyrics but I'm sure we will hear it when the full album come out.
But in general I think this album will be very good.

I dunno, I'm mixed. Of course I love it but I'm biased as said.
But i can#T deny that it is pretty noisey and the lyrics are bland. Moreover, I expected something less electronic from the description. I would have prefered an album in the vein of TSUKI and BRIGHTER DAY over this atm.
I initally thought she would leave the singles becaus eof the sound, but after the previes both SWEET KISSES and Ballerina could have fitted in there.

Seriously though, I had the same knee-jerk reaction as you, MUST CANCEL PREORDER! But then I calmed down for a hot minute and I'll leave it be for now.

As an aside, anyone who hasn't gotten around to buying LIVE STYLE 2014 yet...snatch it up now bc at CDJapan all the versions are 20% off from now until May 6th. Run, don't walk!

I was also considering canceling my preorder but as of right now the only tracks I'm not feeling are Scream, It, and Every Woman. The rest are decent and serviceable for what it is. Namie was never an artist I take super seriously anyways lol I mean, she's one of my faves but I don't need some lyrical substance from her or something new and "fresh". She's music I'll listen to driving around town with the windows rolled down while lip syncing (horribly) and that's it lol

Edit: It's been bothering me that Anything sounds so similar. I had to go use that 'tap your spacebar' site to figure out the song and finally realize it's Unpretty by TLC lol

I actually thought the whole thing does not stray to far from what Kumi wanted to do...only Namie did it better (Birthday and House Party have the same vibe)

Sort of reminded me of ARTPOP's direction but with more repetitive lyrics. Some of the tracks have potential but I've never been a huge fan of Namie's more retro-pop style... I'll wait until the full album to make a proper judgement though.

talking about the lyrics...I must agree...her lyrics are mostly about sex or narcism...really uninspiring...I can't take her lyrics seriously as well...

I'm always here for a good club-banger or a fun song about going out with the girls or whatever...but I didn't need an entire album full half-assed attempts at trying to pull that off (with unintelligible lyrics, to boot).

Ugh. I was so excited for this album. Somebody hold me. :'(

Her lyrics are hardly ever anything special to me, so it doesn't really bother me. I have no expectations Although, I would prefer Japanese too. But that's just because I think Japanese is a prettier "singing language" than English.

Anyway. I'm not going to relisten the previews again. I want to songs to stay "fresh". I totally overplayed Ayu's previews lol

Golden touch is the track I'm most interested in.
Seems like amazing production value--but the lyrics...bleh. My problem with her english lyrics is the word choices. The terms are either too long, old, or just weird.

Like I think swag/swagger is officially dead.

Finally gave the album sampler a few play throughs. I personally never minded her singing in English, but I think she really needs to find a good team of lyricists for her English songs. She always works with the best producers, so we never have to worry about the music itself, but man... Some of these lyrics are so cheesy/bad that it's kind of distracting (I'm looking at you in particular, Birthday).

A lot of these songs would probably be a lot better if she blended Japanese/English rather than complete English. Every Woman for example is kind of a mess, pronunciation-wise (All the boys in the worl wanna meelus?). She should've sang the verses in Japanese. And Fly is amaaaaaaazing...but I have no clue what she's saying lol.

Lyrics aside, I really like the overall sound and direction of this album. It sounds like it's going to be a really fun album to dance and have fun to. The only song I don't really like is Scream, simply because her vocals are so overly processed and autotuned that it kind of hurts to listen to. I'm surprised there is seemingly an interlude on this album too; it sounds really nice though.

I cannot wait to model strut to Photogenic and Fashionista.
