That was so fun to watch.
I loved the quick Lindberg appearance too. ![]() Whenever I look back at Ayu's fox tail it makes me want to try it out but I'm too afraid.

I'm putting myself out on a limb saying this but I was never a fan of Ayu's 'iconic' fashion. The tail. The bling. The sunglasses. All. That. Freaking. Denim. Or animal prints. I loved her hairstyle and her music and her personality, but I just... I dunno. The fashion just wasn't for me, I suppose. I much more prefer Ayu's street fashion nowadays to the stuff back then. However, there is no denying she was quite the trendsetter. Kind of remarkable, actually, that one person could have such an impact.

Had to convert the video as it is (only?) on FaceBook and I don't have an account there -maybe after this I'll be unable to watch it...
Anyway, interesting and really fun video! |

I always liked her having singles titled "A" "H" and "&." I know people don't put them in the same category, but I do find "L" and "M" somewhat fit into the trend, even if they hold different meanings.
I guess it makes sense that A and H could stand for Ayumi Hamasaki, but I never had a clue what & stood for. |

ooooooh I love when July 1st comes around. I set my alarm to specifically play it and listen to it all the way through as I get dressed/ready for the day.

_ So today is 06.30, the date Ayu wrote on the booklet of Memorial Address. Anyone know what that stands for?

H is such a great single. To be that successful as a single and have no music videos in the music video renaissance of sorts is pretty amazing. It was promoted so heavily with commercials and tv lives and the baseball theme song. I wish I could've been around at that time
![]() Also I miss the carefree atmosphere she had about her. A Life photo book and such. She was very natural and free. Now I do feel like she's a bit afraid to let herself be as vulnerable. Everything seems much more intentional. To be expected I suppose. The public, even her fans, are quite hard on her.

I usually just listen to my copy of H that day.
![]() ![]() I remember when I was so excited to buy it and get my copy. July 1st was my main reason for getting it at the time. I was in love with that song for a time. Especially the beautiful intro. It reminds me of evolution how the intro is very peaceful and ambient then there is a big shift and the song comes alive. ![]() I also would enjoy if maybe Ayu decided to make PVs for at least one of the songs on H. |

I'm rather confused about how vulnerable Ayu has been at what points of her career because of how she's told us that "this" or "that" was something she was forcing herself to do. I'd say her most vulnerable was initially during her debut and possibly for a short period recently as well. I love Ayu but it is a bit of a slap in the face to know that at her 'peak' and most loved eras she wasn't really being herself but was trying to be things she wasn't because she thought that was what was expected of her. Personally, I wish she would push herself a bit harder in a few aspects just so that she can be more than just 'safe' as it seems she is now. It's all up to her but I still would like to see her push her own boundaries once again. If I were to guess, she probably had stopped forcing herself to innovate around the time of 2008/2009 onward and wasn't sure where to go from there. The videos and music never really caught back up to their former quality after that other than a short burst of inspiration during 2009 and 2010, I feel.

That has always been an issue. I don't think she's gonna change the way she acts on TV though any time soon.

It's interesting - I feel like MiJ was a great example of how Ayu has so much more to say (about herself, life, society, etc.), but ultimately was let down due to quality of execution that occurred. It needed a few more tracks, and the creative vision just felt lazy.
I know people have been saying this forever, but she needs a fresh team, new blood that can help her innovate. She's a legend, she should be able to hire whoever the hell she wants...Ayu seems to be comfortable at this stage in her career, and yet still presents herself as not being confident in her output? I wonder if she ever will feel confident in her career and vision. Yet, that's part of her appeal, isn't it? |

I think she is just okay with being safe and comfortable for the time being after pushing her team so hard for so many years.

0630 is rumored to be her father's death date but it's also the day where she parties and such with friends in Fukuoka which leads into July 1st. Possibly because the day gives her flashbacks to that day. I think Japanese fans also speculated that it was the day that her father left her mother.
