Ayumi Hamasaki to contribute two songs to a VG

At the ceremony, Capcom revealed that, although Dawn of Dreams doesn't feature the likeness of a Japanese celebrity as its main character, it will have some big star power attached to it. Ayumi Hamasaki, one of Japan's biggest singers, will be providing two songs for the game, "Startin'," the opening theme, and "Rainy Day," the end theme. Both are being written for the game by Hamasaki herself. In a message delivered via video, Hamasaki stated that Startin' has been created to give players a sense of "Let's Go!" with Rainy Day, a ballad, providing the perfect closing atmosphere for the game's ending.

The addition of Hamasaki should give Onimusha some big press in Japan, the kind of mainstream press the previous titles got due to their main characters. As for America, while Capcom isn't talking about theme songs at this point, we are expecting a release to follow in early 2006.

I really hope the songs make it over here to the US!!!!!!!

hell yeah!! i know heaps of people who discovered Utada Hikaru from Kingdom Hearts!

but i bet America are going to remake AYu's song ofcourse, but maybe when people download that song from P2P programs they might also download the original Ayu's one too~

According to _yuki @ T-N it shall actually be a single. The single "Startin'/Rainy Day" will go on sale January 25th, according to this. Don't think this was posted before.

If that is true, then I think both songs would still be collected to the new album. I mean, it seems ridiculous to me that they would release these NEW songs not even a month after the new album was released. And for the people who already bought the album, Avex would just load the single with a bunch of remixes and extras.

It probably will be a single by itself.. after all, most songs come out a little before the actual game.. like with Magna Carta and stuff.. how was it with Hikari? Did she release it a while before the release of KH?

Yeah I thought it was odd to release into an album since I donno.. having a whole single would be more of traditional. Koda Kumi and Utada released a single themselves when they sang a theme song.

Anyhow I checked for you. Hikari came out on 2002/03/20 but then COLORS had an English version of Hikari - Simple and Clean which came out on 2003/01/29.

Yeah there would be a need for a bunch of extras then since it shall be a re-cut single and fewer fans might be inclined to buy it though.

what!? I dont think there will be another single after the album. But, if the songs are really great I mean, better than walking proud or sumthing, then maybe the single would come out. Just look back on Daybreak..look at its ranking...I Don't think ayu and avex will RISK it again. no.
