It's definitely not an amazing album, but there are some tracks that I can see growing on me. More than anything, I'm just glad to have new material from them! The 10th anniversary version of Tangerine Dream sends such a chill up my spine.........shudder.

^ I don't know about a tour, but they're playing the Budokan at the end of next month to celebrate their tenth anniversary...tickets go on sale next Saturday; would that be enough notice to get down here from Hokkaido?

Oh goodness. That concert was epic. And amazing. I think...I'm still in shock. DAI was the first j-pop artist I've ever loved, and Shinjitsu no Uta was my first j-pop CD way back when I was 12 in 2002...and to finally have seen them in concert, after 7 years and 6 missed opportunities to see them live () was mindblowing. I cried three times and had a ridiculously happy smile plastered on my face the rest of the time.

I left my house at 5:45 this morning and fiiinally got to Akarenga Park at about 7:30, hoping I would be one of the first ones there. Surprisingly, I was not. When tickets were handed out at 10, I was number 157. D: But there were soooo many people there, it was insane. They told us we could leave as long as we were back by 12:30, so I went to get food and came back to the park to watch them finish setting up the stage. It was on the backside of the buildings facing the harbor...such an amazing location! It's where Ayu did her secret x'mas live last year.

I'm glad I decided to stick around the park, because at about noon they started the soundcheck...at first it was just drums and keyboard, but then I heard guitar and I thought to myself, "Hey, that sounds an awful lot like..." and I turned around and it was Ryo! Eeeep. I freaked out a little bit. He was playing "Blackbird" and doing some improv with the other two band members, so I went over to watch...and then Tomiko came out! They did two songs as part of their sound check:

Sound Check
01. We are.
02. Fukai Mori

I should probably mention at this point that the entire concert was done acoustically...it was Tomiko, Ryo, and two other members (both named Jun, oddly) on keyboard and percussion (think bongos...). When they started playing Fukai Mori, that was the first time I cried. Then they left the stage and I puttered until 12:30 when people got into line.

Starting at 1, they let people enter in groups of ten, sequentially by the number on your ticket. I was pretty happy with where I ended up; I was maybe 25 feet away from Tomiko and Ryo, about 5 people deep in the audience. We stood for an hour and waited until the concert started at 2...

Setlist
01. Tookumade
02. Week!
03. Hi no Ataru Sakamichi
04. Umareyuku mono tachi e
05. Nighter
-raffle-
06. Saigo no GAME
07. Piece Of Your Heart
08. Boukenshatachi

Tomiko is absolutely gorgeous, and Ryo is so handsome, and to see them both in person finally made me SO HAPPEH~ I always knew I loved Tomiko's voice, but hearing it live just took it to an entirely new level. As soon as they started with Tookumade, tears came to my eyes. I'm pretty sure I could listen to her sing all day. The acoustic arrangements on the songs were all fantastic; I REALLY hope they release this on DVD because those audio tracks need to be made available! After Nighter they raffled off three signed Eternal Flame posters, and then pulled the number of a fourth person who got to go up on stage and have their picture taken with the band, and the audience in the background. My number was not picked. D: But just being there was amazing enough! And the concert went by waaay too quickly. The banter between Tomiko and Ryo was hysterical, as always. They're really funny when they're together. After Boukenshatachi, the audience called them back for an encore...

Encore
01. Tangerine Dream

Only one song for the encore. But it was just Tomiko and Ryo, and they performed the same arrangement as the 10th Anniversary ver. that's on the CD-only version of Eternal Flame. And that was the third time I cried.

The concert lasted exactly an hour, and the last thing they said was to come to their show at Budokan next month, and they said "We'll have a tenth anniversary party." It was adorable. I hope I can get tickets to that, because I have a feeling it would be more epic than today...if that's even possible!

I am so happy right now.

There were two of them with the t-shirts, and they were both wearing black zip-up sweaters from the NEED YOUR LOVE tour, I think...they were behind me in line in the morning, but they cut me in line to get into the stage area first. D:<

Why didn't you kick their balls and yell at them "there is a line in here!"

Awww. Awesome! And now someone else knows what I mean when I say, you don't know DAI until you see them perform live... I mean, Tomiko is AMAZING. I have a feeling all I need for me to be completely in love with the new album (which I already like) would be to see them perform the new tracks...

Say hello first in DAI thread~

ETERNAL FLAME was a very good album, i think that it's combination of Gates of Heaven and Need Your Love

Seeing that photos make me really jealous~
I really want to go there~
I believe that even DAI doesn't have good reputation at Oricon (I mean their position of albums and singles is hard to up) a lot of people in Japan really loves DAI very much, don't know why~

I was tempted, believe me! But I was so happy to just be there that I didn't care, in the end.

I just came back from Lawson's...I went to buy my ticket for their 10th Anniversary live at the Budokan next month! I have no idea if my seat is a good one or not (can't find a decent seating chart) but I got my ticket on presale, since they don't actually go on sale until this Saturday. So excited to see them perform in a big venue!!!

Have fun! Hopefully no one will try to cut you in line.

Btw, thanks for the pics and description of when you went to Yokohama. I'm epicly jealous of you.
