I got into Namie when she sang "Put 'Em Up" on Hey! Hey! Hey! They used to air the show on the International channel over here and I thought it was a cool song.

There was, a long time ago. I used to watch Hey!x3 on there all the time, and that's how I discovered a lot of J-Pop artists. I think that International Channel ceased to be sometime in 2005 (I could be wrong) - it became AZN TV or something, and they no longer showed Hey!x3, and only ever showed Sony artist PV's.

"Put 'Em Up" came out in 2003, so I've been a Namie fan since then.

And thank you all for answering my question. I was so curious about it. I wasn't very surprised that most of you became fans after you heard newer songs. I was the oher way around. I became namie fan after I heard her OLDER stuff and whole discography. Nowadays I even downloaded her singles just because I wanted to hear all the b-sides she has on her singles. Those are pure hotness~
